Position Summary:
The Pediatric Physician is a member of the interdisciplinary health care team which functions to meet the objectives of the programs in Northeast Community Clinic. The Pediatric Physician will be responsible for providing complete clinical care for all patients under the direction of the Medical Director and by written protocols. The Pediatric Physician works in conjunction with the Medical Director in implementing and maintaining quality care programs.

Schedule:

Flexible, may require some evening and weekends

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the medical care of children from birth through adolescence
Examines, diagnoses, and treats diseases and injuries of infants and children
Obtain medical, social, and developmental histories of infants and children extending into young adulthood
Perform physical exams and immunizations on all infant and children patients
Prescribes pediatric treatment
Initiate laboratory exams and studies as necessary
Provide health education and counseling on pediatric services
Management of all acute and chronic illnesses to and above community standards at all times
Consult with and refer to appropriate specialist any high risk or complex patients
Management of pediatric services in accordance with established Northeast Community Clinic’s policies/procedures and contracted services under CHDP, Managed Medical Care and other medical programs and guidelines
Exercise judgment in establishing priorities of medical care in triage situations
Participation in Northeast Community Clinic’s Continuing Quality Improvement (CQI) Program
Provide case management with other health care team members
Provide consultations with other Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Medical Assistants on procedures for diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of infants and children
Maintain a positive working relationship with staff
Other duties as designated by the Medical Director or Executive Director

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Excellent Communication Skills
Excellent Customer Service (Bedside Manners)
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Ability to work as a team player and work independently
Reliable transportation
Must be able to travel from facility to facility
This position requires 10 % travel outside the local area.

Required Education/Experience and/or Licensure/Certifications
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited university (if foreign medical graduate, must pass all required USMLE exams and/or completed an accredited residency program in the US)
Must have a Nat'l Provider Identifier (NPI), or obtain an NPI, prior to employment start date.
Active California Medical License (M.D. or D.O.)
Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics
Active DEA License
Current PALS Certification
Commitment to goals and philosophy of Northeast Community Clinic
Current CPR and/or BLS Certification
Have approved credentials with Health Plans
Valid State Identification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

OSHA Category 1 Involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
The work is majority of the time non-sedentary in nature.
The employee is regularly required to communicate, frequently required to use repetitive motions, move, remain stationary, regularly push, pull and lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds.
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office/clinic setting (in some cases both settings) and to use standard office/clinic equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, read printed materials and use a computer, and communicate in person and over the telephone.
