POSITION: Physical Therapy Assistant

SALARY: $ 30.77 per hour

REPORTS TO: Physical Therapy Director

LOCATION: LRCHC-Inchelium/Keller

Basic Functions:  Works under the supervision of a Physical Therapist to fulfill the health centers mission.  A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is part of a team that works with patients who have injuries or medical conditions that limit their mobility or make it difficult to perform everyday tasks and activities, according to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). PTAs typically observe patients before, during and after therapy. They help them perform exercises, treat them through massage and stretching techniques and educate patients and family members about post-treatment care.  Common activities for a PTA are assisting patients with stretching, ultrasound therapy, therapeutic massage, balance and coordination training, electrical stimulation or heat and ice treatments and ensure patient/client safety and comfort. Works independently from prescribed orders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training: 

  • High School Diploma
  • Associate in Applied Science-Physical Therapy Assistant (required)
  • Physical Therapy Assistant, WA State Licensure (required)
  • Basic Life Support certification (required)
  • Continuing Education Requirements completed per state law
  • 1-2 years’ experience (preferred)
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proven experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant
  • Thorough knowledge of HIPAA and Privacy regulations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ensuring the patient records are maintained, accurate, and complete
  • Knowledge of general administrative practices including use of all office machinery
  • Participates in team building, and conflict resolution
  • Requires sufficient knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation to prepare professional correspondence and write and edit report text
  • Requires sufficient human relations skill to work productively and cooperatively with other work teams, exercise patience when dealing with internal and external patients
  • Ability to assess the functional performance of patients
  • Ability to carry out treatment applications
  • Ability to develop and maintain confidential health record files
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills and experience with healthcare databases and applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to keep detailed records
  • Ability to work as a team member in a fast paced, highly visible, sometimes stressful setting and make sound decisions
  • Utilization of Microsoft IT applications, Word, Excel, and RPMS applications

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance.  In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances.  If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment. Professional conduct, ethics and confidentiality are always expected. Documented Covid-19 vaccination is required
