Description

The Oak Hall Summer Program is pleased to announce that it is hiring a Middle School Camp Program Director for the Summer of 2023. The Middle School camp is the program option for children in rising grade 5 - rising grade 9. Your primary goal is to provide a challenging learning environment, a safe camp environment, supervision of campers, and a fun camp experience for the campers you work with throughout the day. Implementing camp wide programs, activities, and trips and leading discussions and activities for the camp will be key duties during the weeks of the Middle School Day Camp. Finally, you will work collaboratively with the Summer Camp Program Director for delivery of our One Camp Programming initiative and the Summer Program Head Counselor to supervise and mentor the counseling staff for the program.

The Middle School Summer Camp Program Director requires on-site leadership from June 3, 2024 to July 26, 2024, weekdays from 7:30-4:00 (No camp July 4th). Additional time is allotted for preplanning and input on hiring decisions of counseling staff before the start of summer and can be done remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Arrive on time and prepared for each camp day.
  2. Design and implement calendars covering activities for each day of camp that accurately represent the theme of the session.
  3. Prepare and make available to parents’ calendars and session specific information for each session.
  4. Determine what supplies are needed. Update supply inventory and needs on a weekly basis according to supply ordering process.
  5. Work with our Counselors in a mentoring manner. Work cooperatively with the Summer Camp Head Counselor, you will be responsible for filling out an evaluation at the mid-point and conclusion of the summer.
  6. Maintain an accurate roster of camper attendance
  7. Maintain the camp site where your program will be held (Includes all set up, clean up, and end of summer camp closing)
  8. Attend, and coordinate, if necessary, all staff meetings
  9. Maintain a safe and clean GREEN camp community
  10. Uphold the standards expected of all Oak Hall School employees during the summer.
    11. Any other duties determined by the Director of Operations

Qualifications

Minimum Job Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Working knowledge and enjoyment of concentration for which you are applying
P
revious experience working with elementary-age children
Previous Summer Program/Camp experience
Demonstrate leadership qualities and sound judgment
Availability to work for seven weeks
Enthusiastic, mature, and flexible in terms of schedule and program delivery.
Desire to work with children in a day camp setting
CPR/FA/AED Child/Adult

Preferred Job Qualifications:
College Degree or higher
2 or more years working experience in a camp setting
Working knowledge and enjoyment of concentration for which you are applying
Lifeguarding certification (Program Director)
Professional teaching experience
CDL Class B License with passenger, air brake, and school bus endorsement. A DOT Card is also required.
Extensive experience driving a 77-passenger vehicle
