Housing Coordinator Description


GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Housing Coordinator builds positive, authentic relationships with youth ages 18 to 25 who are homeless and have a diagnosed disability. The Housing Coordinator works with their youth in maintaining rental housing. Through building a supportive professional relationship, the Housing Coordinator facilitates their youths’ ability to live independently.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Assist new program youth in obtaining rental housing in accordance with program requirements.
•    Maintain and follow a schedule of lease renewal dates, youth rent payments, document updates, and monthly meetings with youth.
•    Meet regularly with youth in their apartments, ensuring their residences are safe & sanitary.
•    Maintain contact with property managers regarding any notices or tenancy issues. Facilitate effective communication between youth and their landlords.
•    Support youth side-by-side in gaining skills to meet their own needs, identify goals, and build independent living skills.
•    Demonstrate adaptability and proactivity in response to shifting priorities and crises.
•    Complete detailed, timely, and correct documentation per program and grant requirements.
•    Utilize New Day modalities, including the Nurtured Heart approach, Positive Youth Development, the Strengths-Based approach, and Trauma-Informed Care.
•    Provide services in a culturally competent and youth friendly manner.
•    Attending department meetings and required training as needed.
•    Provide crisis intervention as necessary.
•    Serve as after-hours on-call staff for 1 week in rotation with other housing team staff.
•    Other duties as assigned.
 

Housing Coordinator Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Must be at least 26 years of age.
•    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field OR some college + 1 year’s relevant work experience s OR High school diploma/GED + 2 years’ relevant work experience.
•    Has reliable passenger vehicle, valid driver’s license, insurance, and good driving record.
•    Competency in Microsoft Office suite, internet use, and database use.
•    Willing to flex schedule as needed, including in-person on-call emergencies.
•    Demonstrates emotional regulation and willingness to apply new methods and perspectives.
•    Understanding of adolescent development and effects of trauma.
•    Able to pass a comprehensive background check.
