Position Summary
The Financial Eligibility Worker will assist NECC patients that do not have medical insurance coverage. This position will be responsible for assisting patients with the application process and enrolling the patient into various insurance programs if qualified.

Schedule:
Flexible, may require some evening and weekends

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Review Provider schedules and identify patients with no medical insurance coverage
o Newborns
o Children previously seen under Gateway and/or Public Private Partnership (PPP) Program o Patient with Share of Cost
Screen Families and educate them on various health insurance programs available and necessary qualifications
Enroll patients according to their qualifications
Assist patients with all necessary forms for initial enrollment and redetermination process, as necessary
Assist patients with all other necessary forms and paperwork pertaining to health insurance coverage
Conduct follow-up with applicants to ensure any and all required documentation and paperwork is submitted and inform patients of any approved health insurance coverage
Other duties as assigned by the HCC Coder, Clinic Manager or Operations Director

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
Act as a patient advocate and a liaison between patients and the clinic, ensuring 100% patient satisfaction
Identify and resolve issues that could lead to member dissatisfaction and could affect member retention.
Help Patients with Insurance questions.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Excellent Communication Skills
Excellent Customer Service
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Ability to work as a team player and work independently
Reliable transportation
Must be able to travel from facility to facility
This position requires 10 % travel outside the local area.

Required Education/Experience and/or Licensure/Certification
High school diploma or GED equivalent
1 year minimum experience in similar job related duties
Commitment to goals and philosophy of Northeast Community Clinic
Valid State Identification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
OSHA Category 2 Involves no regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but may require unplanned tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
The work is majority of the time sedentary in nature.
The employee is regularly required to communicate, frequently required to use repetitive motions, move, remain stationary, regularly push, pull and lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds.
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office/clinic setting (in some cases both settings) and to use standard office/clinic equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, read printed materials and use a computer, and communicate in person and over the telephone.
