Position Summary
The Medical Assistant, Lead will supervise the back office staff and will perform various patient care activities and related services under the direction of the professional staff. Duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.

Flexible, may require some evening and weekends


Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise the back office medical assistant staff, and oversee the patient flow.
Interviews and exits patients, completing appropriate medical agency and consent forms, ensuring patient understanding and obtaining signatures.
Checks chart for completeness, errors, signatures and appropriate assembly.
Counsel individuals who need information concerning program services.
Perform phlebotomy, injections, vitals, assist with patients exams if deemed by provider, including visual acquits, audiometric screening, patient venipuncture and injections.
Route patients to maintain appropriate clinic flow.
Maintain and stock dispensary
Clean, stock and maintain exam rooms.
Assist providers as necessary.
Process lab specimens per lab procedure manual and medical protocol.
Perform paperwork duties as assigned including recording and filing lab results, provide results and fill abnormal test results.
Route charts to appropriate person at the end of clinic session.
Able to perform front office duties, answering phones, scheduling, chart retrieval and checking-in patients.
Strict adherence to the policy and procedure manual
Other duties as assigned by Clinic Manager, Operations Director, or Medical Director

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
Microsoft Office/Word/Excel/Outlook
Excellent Communication Skills
Excellent Customer Service Skills
Bi-lingual Spanish/English (preferred)
Ability to work as a team player and work independently
Reliable transportation
Must be able to travel from facility to facility
This position requires 10 % travel outside the local area.


Required Education/Experience and/or Licensure/Certification
Medical Assistant Certificate, Certified Medical Assistant or higher High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent preferred, but not required.
Six month supervisory experience preferred
Proven ability to lead and motivate a team and successfully hold them accountable.
Ability to maintain composure when confronted with fast-paced and stressful situations
Commitment to goals and philosophy of Northeast Community Clinic Current CPR and/or BLS Certification
Valid State Identification


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
OSHA Category 1 Involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
The work is majority of the time non-sedentary in nature.
The employee is regularly required to communicate, frequently required to use repetitive motions, move, remain stationary, regularly push, pull and lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds.
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office/clinic setting (in some cases both settings) and to use standard office/clinic equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, read printed materials and use a computer, and communicate in person and over the telephone.
