Join YSS and become an essential part of our internship program, assisting homeless youth aged 16-21 in our Transitional Living Program. This initiative offers a safe, monitored self-sufficient living environment for those without stable arrangements due to unsafe family situations.


  • Help with job applications and teach crucial skills for gaining and retaining employment.
  • Guide youth in setting and achieving personal goals for self-sufficiency.
  • Provide supervision during activities and ensure a safe living environment.
  • Assist new participants in settling into their living arrangements.
  • Connect participants with local resources like food pantries and clothing centers.
  • Collaborate with staff, case managers, and advocates to meet participants' needs.
  • Contribute to donation drives and community events.

Time Commitment and Training:

  • Minimum 8 hours/week with flexible scheduling.
  • Regular bi-monthly meetings with your supervisor.
  • Complete Mandatory Reporter and CPR/First Aid training.

What you’ll need

  • Commitment, Collaboration, Compassion, Innovation, Integrity, and a Can Do Spirit.
  • Must be at least 19 years old.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to work collaboratively, independently, and take initiative.
  • Interest in young adults experiencing homelessness, transitional housing programs, and the YSS mission.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • All majors are accepted, but Human Services majors are preferred.
