Job Qualifications:

  1. Experience supporting an operations team including extraction, pelleting, R&D, packaging, scheduling, warehousing, logistics and shipping.
  2. BS in Engineering or a field requiring similar training and experience.  Five or more years of comparable experience and demonstrated leadership skills can substitute for degree.
  3. Must possess strong leadership skills and outstanding work ethic to positively contribute to the company’s mission, vision, and values.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.  Second language is desirable.
  5. Must be able to effectively work as part of a team with employees, department managers, senior / executive management, growers, customers and vendors. 
  6. Skilled at mentoring and training employees and other team members in professional development in alignment with company needs.
  7. PC skills – Microsoft Office, Outlook, AutoCAD and experience working with ERP systems.
  8. Familiarity with plant equipment and operations (material handling, packaging, process heating & cooling systems, flow control, instrumentation).
  9. Understanding of hops industry (pelleting, extraction, products, packaging) a plus.
  10. Brewing experience or brewing education is a plus.
  11. Lean Manufacturing Training preferred.
  12. Must be able to effectively communicate in written and verbal form with co-workers, supervisor and management.

Job Summary:

Lead or support capital and process improvement projects for process facilities located in Yakima and Sunnyside.  Must possess manufacturing experience utilizing engineering principles to design and install equipment, suggest process improvements and troubleshoot process issues.  Proven written skills to accurately document and complete required paperwork. Should have a positive attitude, support co-workers to obtain the above objectives, and assist others in their contributions. Initial assignments to focus on capital improvements and process improvements.  Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (in required areas) for extended periods of time. Ability to sit/stand/walk for extended periods of time and access stairs and ladders. Ability to bend, stoop, squat occasionally to frequently. Be able to lift (up to 50 lbs.), carry (up to 44 lbs.) occasionally to frequently within normal limits. Handle hazardous chemicals safely according to their SDS sheets and SOP’s.             

Job Duties:

  1. Assist with project management of capital improvements and new construction, including:  vendor selection, sourcing equipment, scheduling, installation of equipment and management of expenses.
  2. Work with Plant Managers to develop project scope and ROI for capital projects.
  3. Provide exceptional customer service to internal customers including, but not limited to, extraction, pelleting, Cryo Hops®, R&D, packaging, scheduling, warehousing, logistics and shipping.
  4. Develop process flow diagrams, P&ID diagrams, 2D and 3D CAD layouts, & process and control narratives in support of improvement projects.
  5. Work with Plant Managers to assess production equipment performance and provide input for improvements.
  6. Assist Plant Managers in troubleshooting process upsets, equipment malfunctions, and product quality concerns.
  7. Provide technical advice to generate process improvements to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Quality Procedures and Environmental Procedures improving productivity, quality, and environmental impacts.
  8. Use engineering skills to study opportunities to reduce environmental impacts.  Recommend technology and process improvements to reduce energy and supplies consumption and set new targets for our Environment Management System.
  9. Notify your supervisor if you identify or recommend ways to improve process efficiency.
  10. Maintain sanitary and safe work environment and follow safety requirements.
  11. Actively participate on company’s Safety Committee.
  12. Ensure that company safety policies as well as federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations are observed.
  13. Must have a complete understanding of company’s policies, SOPs, QPs, EPs, HACCP and cGMP that pertain to their department to ensure quality, safety, efficiency and sustainability.
  14. Must adhere to all company policies.
  15. Examine documents, materials, and products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specifications.
  16. Follow all SOPs in a given area.
  17. Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager and/or designee.
