Fire Protection Designer I

We have a full-time opening in Bentonville Arkansas, for a fire protection designer!

This position will be designing and hydraulically calculating fire protection sprinkler systems for commercial and retail facilities under the direct supervision of a fire protection engineer. Using industry standard software (Revit, AutoSprink and others) You’ll accurately and thoroughly prepare code compliant fire protection system designs within stipulated timeframes. The fire protection designer is an integral part of a successful fire protection system design team.

You will interface with other in-house design professionals (including structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers; and architects) to achieve creative solutions and meet team goals. .

Job Responsibilities:

  • Designer will assist Fire Protection Engineer and/or Fire Protection Design Team to design, implement and draft construction documents in support of clients' building program, including fire sprinkler and alarm systems.
  • Designer should utilize education and experience to independently tackle minor challenges as they arise on projects, with the support and/or direction of the Fire Protection Engineer or Fire Protection Design Team lead.
  • Designer should start to apply knowledge gained from national standards (such as IBC, IFC, NFPA) and experience into construction documents, with oversight from Fire Protection Engineer or Fire Protection Design Team Lead.

Job Duties:

  • Designer will develop skills in AutoCAD and/or REVIT, relevant national codes and travel to project as necessary (as required by client). Designer will become familiar with software assisting the design process, such as HydraCad.
  • Designer will work in a collaborative environment with Architects and other Engineers to develop construction documents based on a clients' requirements.
  • Designer shall perform quality control of their own work prior to giving to Fire Protection Engineer or Fire Protection Team Lead for final review.
  • Depending on needs of client and team, Designer could have direct contact with client on a regular basis.
