SUMMARY

Effectively execute engineering service activities on multiple products. Demonstrate and perform Technical Service Level 1 skills from Technical Service Engineer (TSE) Skills Matrix. Professionally interact with external and internal customers/departments. Serve in a leadership role to the Field Service Engineers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Follow all corporate safety protocols and report unsafe conditions.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, document, and communicate findings and solutions, for problems with assigned systems to the component level and/or software.
  • Perform and train others on the modifications, installations and maintenance of multiple products.
  • Install software using the provided installation procedures and release notes.
  • Use supplied corporate processes to locate software revisions and appropriate documentation.
  • Analyze software platforms within the product sets.
  • Obtain Factory Training and achieve Certification on multiple products.
  • Provide expert technical support and training to company Field Service Engineers (FSE).
  • Work closely with customer engineers to develop improvements to equipment and operating procedures.
  • Recommend courses of action to customer and/or Murata to correct or improve equipment performance.
  • Oversee the installation and testing of approved modifications.
  • Support FSE and customer engineers in analysis of errors to develop short/long-term solutions.
  • Interface with Product Support Teams and/or Murata Japan engineers in resolution of equipment failures.
  • Apply company policies and procedures to resolve issues of complex scope.
  • Understand Customer Service contract agreements and their goals.
  • Professionally interact with, and present technical information to external and internal customers/departments.
  • Maintain and analyze statistical and analytical documentation relating to company products.
  • Write and edit technical procedures within scope of responsibility and capability.
  • Work independently without supervision and lead other FSEs.
  • Understand corporate/department objectives.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in electronics or other engineering discipline preferred. Technical School or Military certification is acceptable. Minimum of 6+ years of technical field service experience in the semiconductor industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and technical procedures or operation manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Outstanding oral and written communication skills (English language).

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Excellent judgment, troubleshooting and analytical capabilities. Ability to use standard statistical analysis methodologies. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Expert knowledge of wide range of electrical diagnostic instruments and shop/hand tools.
  2. Expert knowledge of Muratec Equipment at assigned site for maintenance and remedy.
  3. Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints and diagnose/troubleshoot electromechanical devices.
  4. Ability to supervise and lead a team of FSEs.
  5. Valid Drivers License and ability to obtain all necessary travel document.
  6. Flexible, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task.
  7. Ability to work in a team environment and be a team player.
  8. Excellent PC skills (MS Office, Excel, Windows)
  9. Outstanding customer satisfaction skills.
  10. Excellent presentation skills.

TRAVEL

This position requires the ability travel on short notice domestic and international with overnight stays. A valid drivers license and good driving record are required.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
