Description

The Crossroads department at Mandli Communications is responsible for the planning, preparation, collection, and review of high-quality data for our company contracts. Within the Crossroads team the Geospatial Technician is a second level position after the entry-level Field System Operator. Technicians are the understudy of the Geospatial Specialists and consists of 2 tiers of responsibility before eligibility for a Specialist role.


The Technicians daily responsibilities within the Command Center can include post- processing and coverage checks, navigation layer creation, monitoring of collection systems in real-time, and efficient collection planning. Responsibilities with the Systems portion of the Crossroads team consists of processing validations of our systems on a weekly basis, testing vans before deployment to verify quality standards are met, traveling to customers to provide maintenance, creating and maintaining validation sites at the location of our contracts, helping fill in on the road when necessary along with other duties that arise within the department.

Logistics Planning

  • Quality checks of data samples received from the field
  • Tracking project and vehicle status via Esri dashboard
  • Alerting management when goals become jeopardized
  • Assisting others within the team when workload becomes unbalanced
  • Help fill in on the road when needed for short amounts of time
  • Voice ideas and recommendations to the team
  • Participate in daily team standups

Data Acceptance and Final Data Preparation

  • Perform testing of collection vehicles by completing pre-deployment checklist, performing validations, and endurance testing
  • Understudy Systems Specialist to learn in great detail how all collection systems function separately and together, how the systems communicate, and how to trouble-shoot the systems when errors occur
  • Processing and analysis of weekly validations
  • Assessment of data quality to ensure data standards are met
  • Collaborate with Crossroad colleagues and other personnel to resolve data quality issues
  • LCMS image Processing
  • Image review and enhancing
  • Assisting Geospatial Specialist as needed in areas of Support, Validations, and Rapid Deployments
  • Mentoring of new hires
  • Regular reporting of the projects status and performance of drivers

Vehicle Support

  • Vehicle inventory review before deployment and monitoring of supplies during project
  • Shipping of parts including hard drives, kim-wipes and other standard supplies

Vehicle Driving

  • Drive company vehicles in a responsible manner consistent with driver training and local laws and regulations when required
  • Immediately report all accidents, damage, and malfunctions to supervisors

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills

Specialized Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Proficient in MS Office and ability to obtain an advanced understanding of ArcGIS as well as Mandli programs and workflows within 3 months of start date. SQL DBA experience is a plus.

Education
Bachelors Degree required in relevant field of study (GIS, geography, STEM, etc).

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using while numbers, common factoring

Certificates and Licenses
Valid drivers license required for travel to job sites, client and vendor locations within the United States.

Travel
Travel Requirement: Limited to rapid deployments, special projects and other sporadic short deployments.

The employee is frequently, up to 100% of the time, required to have the additional specific vision abilities required by this job to include peripheral vision (defined as the ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (defined as three-dimensional vision, and the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and distance vision (defined as clear vision at 20 feet or more, respectively, all while driving a vehicle or being a passenger in a moving vehicle.
