Who We Are:  

The Puzzle Society is a new subscription gaming service developed by Andrews McMeel Universal, designed for puzzle fans in search of the highest quality original word and logic puzzles. 

Our Games team is dedicated to creating original games that challenge solvers of every kind. We share a deep passion for making fun and compelling games through an inclusive process that honors the very best ideas.  

We partner with third-party game development studios around the world to co-develop and support polished, browser-based puzzles that encourage and support our subscribers’ daily puzzle habits.  

 

The Job: 

The Games Producer is responsible for managing the production of compelling, high-quality games for PuzzleSociety.com.  

The role acts as a liaison between our internal teams and our stable of third-party game developers, overseeing the concurrent development of a variety of titles.  

In addition to scheduling, budget tracking, and supporting quality assurance throughout the product lifecycle, you will work closely with the release management team to ensure that game development stays in lock step with established processes.  

You will be responsible for the timely delivery of all game assets, which includes overseeing milestone reviews and coordinating with the marketing team throughout the development cycle. 

You will be involved with the games at every stage, from Discovery through Live Ops, monitoring their overall health and contributing to their maintenance and expansion.  

 

What You’ll Be Doing:  

  • Manage day-to-day relations with our growing roster of 3rd-party game development studios.  

  • Develop and maintain all game schedules, budgets, and roadmaps. 

  • Communicate requirements, scope, and schedules to the QA & development teams, encompassing all concurrent game development projects. 

  • Work closely with QA team to organize and triage game issues in JIRA, throughout the life cycle. 

  • Maintain issue backlog for all live games.  

  • Collaborate with Game Design Director and key stakeholders to establish initial game project vision and roadmap. 

  • Identify and offer solutions to resolve issues that arise with schedule, cost, and scope. 

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of game development workflow and processes. 

What We’re Looking For:   

  • Deep understanding of game development, software development, and project management practices. 

  • Bridge our cross-functional internal teams and our third-party game development studios. 

  • Ability to juggle a high degree of detail across multiple projects at varying stages of life cycle, maintaining focus on priorities. 

  • Evaluate submissions with a clinical eye to ensure integration standards are met and continuously improved. 

  • Be a collaborative and thoughtful partner to your team, with a proven ability to think beyond the near-term. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 

 Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years’ experience as a producer/project manager in the games industry. 

  • 3+ shipped titles as a game producer, or as a member of a production team. 

  • Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with game designers, programmers, artists, animators, and quality assurance. 

Nice to Have:  

  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum/traditional waterfall methodologies and tools 

  • A passion for word, puzzle, or logic games, either digital or print. 

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • A love for gaming
  • Attention to detail and the ability (and desire) to handle potentially stressful development environments
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain focus across multiple concurrent projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent end-to-end project management & problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of game development process including demonstrated experience with first party submission requirements and ability to clinically evaluate milestone submissions
  • Understand the full spectrum of making a game design, art, audio, coding, engineering, tools, pipelines and more
  • Management or production experience in any industry (tv, film, etc.) is a plus

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years experience as a producer/project manager in the games industry
  • 3+ years experience as a producer in the mobile game industry
  • Ability to demonstrate/provide a portfolio of shipped video game titles
  • Proven experience working with developers (programmers, artists, animators, designers, testers
  • Fluent with Agile/Scrum/JIRA/Traditional waterfall methodologies and tools
