Scope

The Editorial Assistant, Calendars provides administrative and editorial support to the of calendar editorial team within Andrews McMeel Publishing. The position reports to the Executive Editor, Calendar Licensing and supports calendar editors in all stages of the production process from identifying potential content for calendars, to acquisition, through delivery of finished calendars and marketing.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist editors with preparation for acquisition meetings, including conducting research, preparing memos/support materials, and presenting new proposals

  • Contribute to/Review various stages of calendar production, including manuscripts, copyedits, mechanicals/typeset pages, and marketing materials under direction/guidance of editor or manager

  • Write metadata descriptions and keywords for calendar titles

  • Enter data, conduct searches, or run reports in Title Management, NDP, and other business systems as required

  • Work closely with calendar editors as well as associates in books, managing editorial, design, production, sales, and marketing

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Proficient writing and editing skills, including correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively within a team structure

  • Conscientious, with good organizational and time management skills, ability to coordinate a variety of projects in process

  • Computer proficiency (Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, database)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university

  • One to two years of professional/intern experience, with publishing experience preferred
