Structural Designer II

 

HFA has an exciting opportunity for a Structural Designer II! In this role, you will utilize education and experience to independently develop, implement, and draft construction documents for most project and/or project type (or at least major portions), as well as, solve medium to difficult design challenges that arise on projects.

You will coordinate directly with in-house disciplines, including: Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection and other engineers and architects. The ideal candidate will have between 2- 4 years of experience in a structural engineering consulting firm, proficiency in Revit, and be self-motivated.

Job Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • There are two tracks for designer: Structural CAD/BIM Designer or Engineer in Training.
  • Designer will work with Structural Engineer and/or Structural Design Lead to deliver completed construction documents and assist in construction administration as required.
  • Designer shall utilize education and experience to independently develop, implement, and draft construction documents for most project and/or project type (or at least major portions), as well as, solve medium to difficult design challenges that arise on a project on simple projects.
  • Designer shall be able to apply their knowledge gained through experience and knowledge of recognized national standards to simple projects, with minimal oversight from Structural
  • Engineer or Structural Design Team Lead. Designer shall have a thorough knowledge of structural software programs, such as RAM Structural Systems, Enercalc RAM Element, RAM Concept.
  • Designer shall have a basic understanding of how buildings are constructed.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Designer shall be proficient in AutoCAD and REVIT Structure. Designer shall be able to train new employees on company standards, drafting techniques, and answer rudimentary technical design questions.
  • Designer shall possess a basic understanding of national structural codes and standards (IBC, AWS, ACI, AISI).
  • Designer will have a good working knowledge of Structural analysis and design software such as RAM Structural Systems, Enercalc RAM Element, RAM Concept
  • Designer will work in a collaborative environment with Architects and other Engineers to develop construction documents.
  • Designer shall be able to provide a high level of quality control of all their projects and possibly others, for final review by the Structural Engineer or Structural Design Lead.
  • Designer will, in some cases, have direct client contact.
  • Designer will be able to work within established budgets. Depending upon supervisor and client needs, Designer will be responsible for financial success of projects also.
  • Designer shall be able to edit specifications for small to medium size projects.

Education Requirements: Technical School, Assoc. in Civil/Architectural Engineering, BSCE/AE
or equivalent experience
