Job Summary:

The Radio Frequency (RF) Engineering is responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of all video, audio and associated Transmission equipment for all Television, Radio and other Broadcast related Transmission Equipment and Facilities.  The RF Engineering is also responsible for Tower Maintenance, Upgrades, FAA Notifications and FCC regulation requirements and compliance.



  • Responsible for maximum on-air reliability of six TV channels and support five on-air radio channels at multiple tower sites.
  • Responsible for maintaining and replacing all components of on-air television broadcast chain; including satellite downlink, microwave receivers, Digital Encoders, Quality/Confidence monitoring of transport streams, ATSC 1.0/3.0 compliance, and supporting hardware such as distribution amplifiers, mixers, etc.
  • Deep familiarity and understanding of all broadcast and professional video/audio formats including HD/SD-SDI, ASI, AES, SPDIF, Dolby D, MPEG-2/4, HVEC, and others.
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all radio and television broadcast equipment including transmitters, satellite ground stations, STL microwave links, IP networks, automation systems, studio equipment, backup power systems including UPS’s and generators, HVAC systems, and any other equipment or systems as required.
  • Assist with the maintenance of all company owned tower sites as well as leased areas at landlord sites.
  • Assist with tower upgrades and when required supervise tower and facilities modifications.
  • Provide support for viewer / listened reception problems received by any department, via email or direct viewer call-in.
  • Other duties as assigned by Vice President Technology


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • This is a dynamic position, which would require extensive fieldwork for oversight. Must have extensive operational knowledge for test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers and signal generators.
  • Must have extensive knowledge about Solid Stage High Power Amplifier system in Radio and TV frequency bands.
  • Must have experience reading and verifying tower structural reports. Verify Construction Drawings are proper. 
  • Must have knowledge on how proceed safely with any tower modifications.
  • Must have extensive IT networking. Including VPN connections and appliance based firewalls,
  • 24/7 on call and be able to work weekends and/or holidays.
  • Must be fully computer literate and be competent with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • A valid driver’s license and satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.



  • Associates degree in Electronics or related field, technical school, or equivalent work experience.



  • A minimum of 4 years broadcast engineering experience preferred or 4 years of experience repairing and maintaining Military Radio Frequency Systems.
  • Experience with television and FM broadcast transmitters and antenna systems.
  • Experience with Satellite Ground Stations and related equipment.
  • Experience with point-to-point microwave systems.
  • IT Networking experience.
