Job Summary:

The Media Operations Specialist is primarily responsible for the overall master control media operation. It requires some trouble shooting of technical broadcast equipment. It also requires setting up, controlling and monitoring television-broadcasting media equipment. This position is responsible for transmitting television programs and station breaks or interstitials to viewing audiences by performing the duties of the job description. Shifts may/will vary and weekend duty is required. The ideal candidate must be flexible and available to work different shifts


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • MEDIA OPERATIONS: Operates broadcast equipment and manages media for several channels.
  • Monitor multiple television channels for on air quality and level accuracy.
  • Monitor transmitter for TV, radio, and TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network).
  • Operate master control automation ensuring it is programmed and running properly.
  • Ingest and prepare all programs and spots for airing.
  • Interact with the automation software by making changes to the on-air schedules when necessary to ensure continuity during on air broadcasts.
  • RECORDINGS - Set up and prepare servers for recordings.
  • QUALITY CONTROL: Acts as final quality control point for all on-air programming broadcast.
  • Daily checks of all local logs and playlists.
  • Import and edit all local playlists as needed.
  • Quality checks of all on-air programs and spots for video and audio consistency.
  • Consistent communication with manager, traffic, and programming departments when network changes occur in the playlist.
  • Daily communication with co-workers on missed spots, changes in logs and playlists, and other media related information.
  • TRANSMITTER REMOTE CONTROL: Operate transmitter remote control. Log transmitter readings on the transmitter log.
  • SATELLITE FEEDS: Select specific receivers for server recordings.
  • OTHER EQUIPMENT: Operate router unit, servers, video recorders, and other broadcast equipment.
  • MAINTENANCE: Perform emergency troubleshooting as required or instructed.
  • LOGS/RECORDS: Maintain local logs, playlists, and recordings that pertain to Media Operations.
  • SCHEDULE: Work an assigned shift per various schedules. Must be able to work independently as well as multitask.
  • TEST EQUIPMENT: Be able to distinguish HD (high definition) and SD (standard definition) sources for air.
  • EAS REQUIREMENTS: Be familiar with EAS requirements. Monitor, receive, and send weekly EAS tests on air.
  • DISCREPANCY REPORTS: Report all on-air discrepancies by logging them in DiscrepSoft or equivalent computer program.
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable with computers and audio and video equipment.



  • High school diploma or GED with six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Television broadcast experience and knowledge of FCC regulations preferred
  • Technical background in media preferred.
  • Must not be vision or hearing impaired.
