Job purpose

To deliver homebound and congregate meals.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Deliver meals according to schedule via software app, prepared by the Supervisor.
  2. Communicates with supervisor in order to receive relevant data and instructions.
  3. Maintain a professional behavior, and attitude in regard to clients, medical professionals, coworkers, office personnel, supervisor and other community professionals.
  4. Completion of vehicle maintenance inspection prior to daily usage for safe transport.
  5. Keep van at a half a tank or more of gas at all times.
  6. Report any vehicle maintenance concerns to the supervisor.
  7. Load meals properly in transport vehicle to begin the daily route.
  8. Maintain confidentiality of all protected health information and follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance. 
  9. Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Current and valid Indiana Driver’s License with a good driving record.
  2. Must pass drug and alcohol screening, when/where required.
  3. At least 25 years of age.
  4. Ability to read and write adequately.
  5. Must become CPR Certified and Bloodborne Pathogens Trained.
  6. Must be organized, friendly and professional.
  7. Sensitive with client needs.
  8. Familiarity with the surrounding counties and able to follow directions.
  9. Capable of understanding directions and the ability to read and use maps accurately.
  10. Knowledge of how to use/navigate cellphone and iPad is beneficial.
  11. Must be detail oriented.
  12. Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  13. Must be trustworthy.

Working conditions

  1. Office, outside, inside vehicles, client home environments and other professional buildings.
 

Physical Demands

  1. Climb in and out of van and climbing up and down stairs in client homes.
  2. May be exposed to very hot or cold temperatures depending on the season.
  3. Sometimes must drive in very bright sunlight or when it is dark outside.
  4. May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.
  5. Pushing, pulling, bending, squatting and lifting (around 30 pounds).

Hours/ Travel

  1. Meal loading/preparation begins at 6:30 a.m. to approximately 7:00 a.m.
  2. Meal transportation services will be provided from 7:00 a.m. to approximately 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours may vary depending on route.
  3. Vehicle and meal pick up is at Older Americans Services Corporation main office in Orleans, Indiana. 

Delivery locations include 26 surrounding counties.
