Job purpose
To deliver homebound and congregate meals.
Duties and responsibilities
- Deliver meals according to schedule via software app, prepared by the Supervisor.
- Communicates with supervisor in order to receive relevant data and instructions.
- Maintain a professional behavior, and attitude in regard to clients, medical professionals, coworkers, office personnel, supervisor and other community professionals.
- Completion of vehicle maintenance inspection prior to daily usage for safe transport.
- Keep van at a half a tank or more of gas at all times.
- Report any vehicle maintenance concerns to the supervisor.
- Load meals properly in transport vehicle to begin the daily route.
- Maintain confidentiality of all protected health information and follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Indiana Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Must pass drug and alcohol screening, when/where required.
- At least 25 years of age.
- Ability to read and write adequately.
- Must become CPR Certified and Bloodborne Pathogens Trained.
- Must be organized, friendly and professional.
- Sensitive with client needs.
- Familiarity with the surrounding counties and able to follow directions.
- Capable of understanding directions and the ability to read and use maps accurately.
- Knowledge of how to use/navigate cellphone and iPad is beneficial.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Must be trustworthy.
Working conditions
- Office, outside, inside vehicles, client home environments and other professional buildings.
Physical Demands
- Climb in and out of van and climbing up and down stairs in client homes.
- May be exposed to very hot or cold temperatures depending on the season.
- Sometimes must drive in very bright sunlight or when it is dark outside.
- May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.
- Pushing, pulling, bending, squatting and lifting (around 30 pounds).
Hours/ Travel
- Meal loading/preparation begins at 6:30 a.m. to approximately 7:00 a.m.
- Meal transportation services will be provided from 7:00 a.m. to approximately 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours may vary depending on route.
- Vehicle and meal pick up is at Older Americans Services Corporation main office in Orleans, Indiana.
Delivery locations include 26 surrounding counties.
