FLSA STATUS:                Exempt, Full-time

SALARY:                          $110,000 - $130,000/annual

 

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION
 

Under the direction of the Director of ITS, the Senior Systems Application Manager is responsible for performing systems analysis and project management activities, which include planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining university-wide academic and business applications, computer systems, and ERP and CRM databases. Collaborates with offices and departments across campus to determine business requirements and to improve academic and administrative operations.

 

Conducts process analysis and prioritization. Manages NDNU's data warehouse and works with the Chief of Finance (CFO) to ensure quality, accuracy, and access to institutional data and that staff, faculty, and senior leadership have regular access to standard and ad hoc reports and data/business analytics tools and resources. Works with the CFO and other senior administrators as appropriate to streamline business processes. Administer and support enterprise databases, including collaborating and coordinating administrative technology projects and system upgrades.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include, but are limited to:

 

  • The Senior Systems Application Manager carries out the system support activities and oversight for NDNU's Student Information System, Learning Management System (LMS), and other systems applications such as Customer Relations Management, GL Accounting System, Financial Aid, and Awards Management.

 

  • In collaboration with the ITS Director or CFO, works with departments and offices across campus to assess and improve business processes; analyzes structure and flow of work and data that support user needs; evaluates possible solutions and implements and/or recommends solutions that support the mission, values, and goals of NDNU.

 

  • Collaborates closely with the Dean of Academic Student Success and Helpdesk staff to ensure that the specific needs of academic users are identified and met and that academic applications and systems support the learning outcomes of various programs at NDNU. Ensures that academic applications and systems support business requirements for new online programs.

 

  • Performs project management of application software implementation, data migration, and upgrades; assists the Director of ITS in determining project scope and staff resources required to complete projects; prepares project work plans and timelines.

 

  • Provides technical support and problem resolution related to academic and business application software systems.

 

  • Performs system administration activities, which include coordinating and managing the testing, installation, and configuration of software and related application software or database upgrades.

 

  • Collaborate on the installation of new releases, upgrades, and patches.

 

  • Creates and maintains standards, procedures, and documentation related to area of responsibility.

 

  • May participate in computer audits and perform testing for the disaster recovery process, ensuring a secure processing environment that protects the integrity and availability of information.

 

  • Implements system changes and administers access to systems and information utilizing approved information technology security policies, standards, and guidelines.

 

  • May supervise technical support staff as required by individual position(s); participates in hiring, evaluating, training, disciplining, and recommending staff discharge as necessary.

 

  • Effectively communicates with all levels of the organization to ensure project success and user needs are identified and met. Makes presentations as needed to various audiences within the University community.

 

  • Defines and implements testing and development environments suitable for testing and evaluating new technologies.
  • Participates in/on a variety of meetings, groups, and/or committees to communicate and confer about process analysis of existing procedures and systems, determine cost/benefit and complexities of new processes and projects, prepare for testing, discuss the roll-out of new projects and software upgrades, and/or discuss other applicable issues.

 

 

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

 

  • Experience in providing support to Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) for the administration of Jenzabar EX ERP and JICS web portal

 

  • Experience in setting up processes and routines to automate EX tasks for administrative and academic departments, utilizing EX functions and MS SQL Server Transact-SQL
     
  • Experienced in creating SQL scripts, jobs, processes, triggers, and stored procedures

 

  • Ability to create complex ad hoc SQL reports and provide support to offices in creating reports, including but not limited to InfoMaker, PowerBI, PowerFaids, other visualization reporting tools, Google, Analytics, Salesforce, Excel, CSV, and Qualtrics.

 

  • Experience in providing end-user support and training for EX and JICS, including testing and validation of new releases in a lab environment before deployment in a production environment
     
  • Demonstrated experience with SQL Server scripting, database administration, ERP administration, SQL server maintenance (including SQL server upgrades and performance tuning), and server integration service package maintenance
     
  • Experience in MS SQL server and Transact-SQL query language
     
  • Experience with Sybase Infomaker report writing with ERP and 3rd party applications preferred
     
  • Experience with API (e.g., Informatica) preferred
     
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documents
     
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues to general audiences both verbally and in writing
     
  • Experience in course evaluation preferred.
