The Richard and Sheila Young School of Nursing is seeking applicants for adjunct online teaching positions in the rapidly growing graduate nurse practitioner and DNP programs. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Graduate Online Nursing, these positions work collaboratively with the Dean of Nursing, Assistant Dean of Nursing, and Graduate Program Directors and in partnership with our online partner Pearson Embanet (Pearson). All nurse practitioner certification specialties are accepted for consideration with family nurse practitioner, psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, and the DNP programs being a priority. Online teaching experience and knowledge of online best practices through related continuing education or online teaching certification (Quality Matters, Online Learning Consortium) are required. 


Essential Functions

  • Teach online nursing students admitted at various entry points (associate’s through doctoral) via Moodle online learning management platform (didactic and/or practicum content).
  • Problem-solve and provide course oversight and maintain expertise in online teaching methodologies.
  • Maintain ongoing, professional, clear, and consistent communication with students, Course Coordinators, Program Directors, Associate Dean or Assistant Dean of Online Nursing, and others as necessary through email, telephone calls, text messages and/or virtual meetings.
  • Adhere to university policy for faculty course presence, grading turnaround time, and student response time.
  • Maintain and attend required office hours.
  • Attend all Adjunct Faculty mandatory meetings called by Course Coordinator and others, as requested.
  • Complete midterm and final grade reports as well as course evaluations.
  • Provide alternative learning experiences, such as group meetings, drop-ins, and study groups for students as needed.


Other Responsibilities

  • Monitor student participation in course(s).
  • Assist in connecting students with university resources.


  • Doctoral degree preferred (degree in process considered). Master’s degree in nursing with nurse practitioner license with certification required (family or psych certification); CNE preferred or a minimum of two master’s level courses in education and/or online teaching course work/continuing education.
  • Active and unencumbered RN/APRN licensure in home state and in Massachusetts prior to employment and a willingness to obtain licensure in related states per Board of Nursing requirements. (Initial requested additional state licensure may be reimbursable by Regis College and renewal of licensure will be at candidate’s expense).
  • Active APRN practice, if applicable, in home state, for all NP specialty clinical/didactic courses
  • Current online teaching experience with knowledge of best practices through related continuing education or online teaching certification (Quality Matters, Online Learning Consortium).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, Zoom for conducting synchronous meetings, and various learning management platforms.
  • Consistent and reliable internet access, reliable personal computer, and reliable phone service.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Work at a distance, home based. Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc.
  • May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
