POSITION SUMMARY:

We believe solid planning requires special expertise and a team approach. Our team includes individuals with financial planning, investment management, tax and legal expertise, dedicated to working with our clients to plan, grow and protect legacies across generations Adhering at all times to First Citizens’ Wealth Management superior client service standards, the Associate Wealth Advisor is client-facing and manages a book of Wealth Advisory account relationships directly while also providing a back-up to seasoned Wealth Advisors to assist as needed.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Account Administration:                                  60%

  • Provides guidance and expertise to clients in meeting their financial needs and assisting them with clarifying, and then developing a plan to meet their financial planning goals.
  • Manages client portfolios in coordination with Investment team to assure conformity with client risk tolerance and goals.
  • Authorizes account investments and account disbursements.
  • Initiates regular client communications via telephone, e-mail, in writing, and in person consistent with client service standards. Exercises independent judgment in resolving client inquiries and responds to client requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Responsible for overall management of the client relationship for accounts developed or assigned.
  • Coordinates client communications and works closely with Department employees on administrative, operational, investment, and insurance issues to ensure the quality of the client experience.
  • Responsible for monitoring client satisfaction to maximize retention and increase sales opportunities.
  • Completes periodic reviews for assigned accounts ensuring strong organization and follow through internal policies and procedures related to administration of accounts.
  • Maintains knowledge of the client’s financial planning, investment, and insurance needs and objectives. Takes appropriate action as warranted due to changes in (a) client situation, needs, or objectives, (b) changes in the legal or regulatory landscape; or (c) economic situation.
  • Identifies opportunities to proactively address client needs’.
  • Promptly documents client interactions ensuring necessary team members have full picture of client relationship.
  • Delegates effectively to Wealth Assistant(s). 
  • Organizes daily work to ensure prioritization of important deadlines.

Business Development:                                    30%

  • Develops new business and additions to existing accounts to meet annual financial goals.
  • Collaborates with Wealth Advisors, Trust Officers, Registered Representatives, Retail Managers, Lenders, and other organization contacts on cross-selling opportunities.
  • Produces activity and status reports by collecting, analyzing & summarizing information and trends.
  • Coordinates with Trust Officers to ensure fiduciary unit engagement in business development activities.
  • Represents the Organization by being active in the community.  Actively participates in service organizations, community activities, etc. to promote a positive organization image and to generate leads for new business efforts.
  • Promotes and participates in business development efforts both individually and in cooperation with others in Department or the organization.
  • Develops and deepens relationships with centers of influence, responds promptly to internal and external referrals, attends organization functions, and works closely with other areas of Wealth Management.
  • Seeks speaking or writing opportunities and attends networking functions such as Chamber breakfasts and social events, etc.
  • Assists with Department marketing efforts.

Compliance/Other:                                         10%

  • Maintains current understanding of regulation, policies and procedures.
  • Pursues training, educational and self-development opportunitiesnot only to ensure mandatory continuing education and training requirements are satisfied but to increase skill level and remain current on tax, financial planning, estate planning, investment planning, and retirement planning.
  • Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by filing tax returns; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains client confidence and protects Wealth Management operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Attends mandatory compliance and security sessions. 
  • Monitors daily work for adherence to compliance and security regulations, policies/procedures, and promptly corrects any deficiencies.
  • Positively contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Travels to branch locations as needed.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed primarily indoors in an office setting.
  • Remote work may be available upon supervisor approval.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor degree in business/finance or equivalent and five years of related experience preferred.
  • Skill in performing basic mathematical principles (such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals) in account transactions.
  • Ability and willingness to attain Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or other designation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven sales ability.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial planning concepts and investments.
  • Experience in advanced use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.  Office 365, CRM system, financial planning, risk analysis, trading and other relevant technology experience preferred.
  • Skill in working with the public, presenting a professional image of First Citizens, and servicing prospective and current customer inquiries, requests, and complaints.
