Position Title:  Director of Facilities & Construction 

Employment Classification: Full Time – 18 months, Salary, Exempt 

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operating Officer

Department: Facilities 


Position Summary: The Director of Facilities & Construction will work with the CFO/COO to support Orangewood Foundation and Samueli Academy construction projects and facility improvements. This position is responsible for working with contractors to successfully complete Phase 4 construction of the Gym and soccer field on the Samueli Academy campus and various other facility improvements throughout Orangewood facilities.


Major Areas of Responsibility:

o   Manage phase 4 construction of Samueli Academy Gym and Soccer Field. Act as owner’s representation as construction meetings and serve as project lead 

      on all construction related activities at all Academy and Foundation locations.

o   Manage Beverly’s House Remodel and ensure completion within agreed upon terms.

o   Lead the scheduled remodels of the kitchen and second floor of the Foundation offices.

o   Create a 15-year Facilities plan and budget for all facilities.

o   Update the facilities Operations Manual.







Knowledge, Skill and Experience Requirements:

o   Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field

o   5 or more years of relevant construction management experience

o   Proficient in Procore or similar building project management systems

o   Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

o   Strong written and oral communication skills.

o   Comfortable presenting oneself in community settings.

o   Must be a minimum of twenty-one years old.

o   Possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.  Position requires DMV clearance.

o   Must be able to pass a criminal background check, TB test, drug test, and FBI/DOJ fingerprinting.

Essential Qualities:

o   Understanding of and passion for the Foundation’s mission, vision, values.

o   Enjoys working directly with youth, volunteers, community partners, etc.


Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

 Position may require use of personal vehicle. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending and lifting up to approximately 50 lbs. (i.e. tables,  chairs, food, water, etc.)


Modification to work schedule may be made based on need of the Foundation.
