Wastewater Treatment Operator (WWT) 2023

DUTIES:

1. Lead, assists, train and performs the duties of lower levels of wastewater treatment operators under the direction and authority of Management.
2. Procures specified number of samples of water, sludge, and tests for (including, but not limited to, chemical oxygen demand, biochemical oxygen demand, suspended solids test, ph test, ammonia concentrations, microscopic examination of sludge to determine types of bacteria in systems, etc).
3. Monitors operation of the wastewater treatment plant and the water treatment programs. Interprets results and takes corrective action when necessary. Interfaces with plant Utility group.
4. Assists in the waste removal operations of sludge and cleaning drying beds or other related activities.
5. Maintains the hazardous waste storage area. Assists in the preparation and disposal of waste (including, but not limited to, hazardous, non-hazardous, medical, etc).
6. Assists in compiling data for all environmental reports.
7. Performs mechanical and incidental electrical service work associated with the repair, removal, or installation of Wastewater Treatment system equipment, performs preventative and predictive maintenance, (including, but not limited to pumps, piping instrumentation, compressors, chemical feed systems, etc.). Notifies the appropriate personnel of needed mechanical/electrical assistance.
8. Operates materials handling equipment (including, but not limited to, hand trucks, motorized vehicles, forklifts, etc.). Performs operator inspections of equipment prior to be used, including checking fluid levels and various systems for malfunction, replenishes fuel supply as required.
9. Responsible for maintaining inventories of parts and equipment in assigned areas. Procures supplies from storeroom or other designated areas.
10. Operates and maintains any tools, equipment, and facilities (including but not limited to, test benches, gauges, jigs, etc).
11. Maintains records, documentation, and job skills level through appropriate wastewater refresher training to retain South Carolina DHEC “B” Wastewater Biological license and laboratory certification.
12. Monitors and maintains air sampler equipment.
13. Utilizes Maintenance Management Systems.
14. Participates in the safety and good housekeeping programs as established within the plant.
15. Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed by Management).

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to work in the US without sponsorship
• SOUTH CAROLINA DHEC WASTEWATER BIOLOGICAL OPERATOR PERMIT per state requirements for a DHEC “B” license.
