Position Summary:

The part-time Member Relations Assistant is responsible for providing meaningful and friendly customer service to ATA members. This includes management of general email inboxes, being a phone operator and managing database accounts to accurately reflect member information. This position will know the basic ins and outs of all membership programs and benefits and will work closely with the Member Programs team to ensure that members’ needs are met accurately and in a timely manner. This position will support the successful implementation of member programming through research projects, outreach and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will show an eagerness to learn about the industry and its members. This is a part-time, non-exempt position working 24 hours a week, working Monday – Thursday or Tuesday – Thursday during core business hours. This position is eligible for remote work, and the candidate must reside local to ATA headquarters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Member Programs team regularly to work on improving overall member engagement and supports to implement member programs
  • Provides excellent customer service as an operator for the company main phone line
  • Manages the general and membership email inboxes and ensures helpful and prompt responses
  • Helps guide members with sourcing referrals and maintains member directory
  • Updates and verifies organization and individual member accounts in the member management system, NetForum and other database projects as assigned such as pulling lists and queries
  • Travels to annual ATA Expo and other shows as assigned to support the member programs team and help manage the membership information “Hub” on the ATA Expo show floor
  • Ensures that all new members have a positive experience by checking in with them regularly, including new member call assignments
  • Conducts Marketing calls on behalf of member programs
  • Maintains positive relationships with members by ensuring their needs are met accurately and in a timely manner and directs them to appropriate member programs team members as needed
  • Partners with Divisions team and other staff to gain knowledge and be the expert of all member programming, including student/academic institute memberships
  • Partners with other departments to implement and/or administer new member benefit and affiliate programs and convey information to members
  • Provides engagement information to membership sales team as required
  • Maintains and updates Member Programs websites
  • Available for special projects in-office such as supporting with the print center for member program/event materials
  • Meet at the office for monthly in person team meetings
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred and 3+ years of relevant customer service, data management, customer relationship management, sales and/or program management experience required.
  • Familiarity with membership driven institutions within the not-for-profit sector a bonus
  • The ability to work independently within role and make decisions quickly
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required
  • Experience in WordPress preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ability to learn new software as required
  • Eagerness to learn about member companies and the industrial fabrics industry
  • Able to move about the building and within workstations; and to sit for long periods of time
  • Able to operate a computer, telephone, copier and other office equipment independently
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Travel 10% as needed
  • Eligible for full-time remote with professional home workspace available
  • Must reside local to ATA headquarters
