Character Artist

Do you excel at creating attractive, expressive, and detailed characters? Do you have an impeccable eye for detail, and thrive on iterating ideas while receiving feedback and direction? Can you deliver on a deadline while consistently achieving that "wow" factor? If so, then the character artist position might be what you're looking for.

Requirements:

  • Create character assets for an upcoming AAA title
  • Priority will be sculpted heads, cloth simulation, and sci-fi hard surface elements
  • Be able to work quickly and efficiently while adhering to the established art direction
  • Excellent work ethic, self-motivation, and able to accept constructive criticism and art direction
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Willingness to learn new methods and techniques for asset creation
  • Ability to adapt to new art styles
  • Maintain a balance of realism and stylization throughout the creation process

This position is either a contract remote position or full-time on-site at our Westminster, Colorado studio.

Qualifications

A portfolio showcasing your highest quality 3d and 2d artwork

  • Proficiency creating 3d assets using Zbrush and Maya
  • Proficiency creating 2d artwork in Photoshop or Substance
  • Solid understanding of artistic fundamentals such as light, color, and composition
  • Solid understanding of the human form, proportions, and mechanics

Deck Nine Games is an independent game developer dedicated to crafting interactive story games that inspire, transform, and entertain players. Our passion is storytelling games.

Our first narrative game, Life is Strange: Before the Storm is loved by fans and has won multiple awards, including Game of Year and was nominated for both a VGA and a BAFTA. Recently we just announced our next game, Life is Strange: True Colors, due to be released in September 2021.

The studio is 100+ people and is in sunny Westminster, Colorado at the base of the Rocky Mountains. We hope to share more information about our next title with Square Enix as soon as we can.
