The Engagement Coordinator supports the Director of Volunteer Engagement with the execution of all engagement related events, including but not limited to Connect U, the Poverty Spiral, the Racial Wealth Gap Simulator, which seek to educate stakeholders about the challenges United Way is working to address in the community. This individual will contribute to the work of the Volunteer Initiatives team, who mobilizes thousands of volunteers, hundreds of the region’s top companies, and leading human services agencies in support of United Way’s overall strategic objectives.


Essential Functions

  • Organize, manage and execute all logistical aspects engagement events, such as Connect U, Racial Wealth Gap, Question Before Us, Poverty Spiral and Student United Way.
  • Coordinate annual Speaker’s Bureau, including recruiting and training speakers, matching partners with corporate requests and tracking and analyzing all data.
  • Assist with diversity, equity and inclusion trainings for staff and stakeholders, as defined by United Way’s DEI policies.
  • Track data for all volunteer events, including projects held by all United Way stakeholders and maintain integrity of data at all times.
  • Create and maintain volunteer opportunities through e-volunteer on Andar, United Way’s volunteer management software
  • Initiate and maintain positive relationships with non-profit organizations to help develop and evaluate volunteer projects.
  • Assist with all logistical aspects for corporate and leadership volunteer events, as needed.

Additional Functions

  • Coordinate pick up, storage and distribution of any collection drives items.
  • Oversee organization of storage room.
  • Actively recruit volunteers from various stakeholders, including students, corporate groups and nonprofits to volunteer.
  • Manage volunteer databases, in coordination with Marketing department, and other pertinent volunteer contact information.

Financial/Budgetary Responsibilities

  • Create budget and monitor all expenses for engagement events ranging in size up to $30,000

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • One to two years of experience in volunteer management, event coordination or related field preferred


Annual Salary Range

  • $36,900 - $41,000

  • Required: Valid driver’s license


Physical Demands

  • Medium: Exerting 20 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10 -25 lbs. force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are greater than that required for Light Work.


Travel Requirements

  • Frequent travel within the region via ground transportation.
  • Must have reliable transportation that can be used to transport donations and event supplies.
