Description

Oak Hall School is seeking an Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning, who will work closely with faculty at all levels to ensure that the School's academic curriculum seamlessly and successfully transitions from lower through upper grades (Preschool- Grade 12). Reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning, the Assistant Director will closely collaborate with the Director to provide instructional leadership for all Oak Hall School academic programs. Most importantly, the Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning will support the Director of Teaching and Learning and collectively serve as a dynamic leadership team to ensure that the mission of the school is reflected in the daily life of Oak Hall School.

  • Promoting commitment to the school’s mission in all aspects of faculty and student engagement
  • Helping to lead a highly effective, creative group of teachers and to provide instructional leadership for the school
  • Establishing an educational philosophy that is consistent across all levels of the school
  • Maintaining a whole school, preschool through Grade 12 mindset in curriculum alignment and programs of study
  • Serving on the Academic Leadership Team to assist in over-sight of department heads, Distinguished Scholar Coordinators, and team leaders
  • Facilitating all aspects of the re-accreditation process with FCIS and SAIS, and ensuring academic accreditation standards and requirements are met annually
  • Supporting the implementation of the Educational Programs component of the school’s Strategic Plan, with an understanding of necessary action steps required to meet the goals in a progressive way
  • Analyzing data to track academic progress and for the purposes of curricular and instructional adjustments
  • Supporting a dynamic, supportive faculty mentorship program, which aligns faculty professional development needs and goals with the school’s short and long-term strategic goals, as set forth in the school’s strategic plan
  • Working with department heads and faculty members in teaching methodologies that balance dynamic, creative instructional strategies with research-based best practices
  • Completing an annual faculty evaluation program that integrates performance assessment and goals for future growth with a professional development plan
  • Overseeing policies and standards pertaining to student assessments and ensuring that grading and assessment methodologies are fair, consistent, and adhere to research-based best practices
  • Providing support in the process of new faculty hiring and onboarding, and in strategic efforts to recruit and retain highly qualified faculty members
  • Participating in the curriculum adoption process and ensuring alignment of curriculum with established standards and with the school’s strategic goals for educational programs
  • Supporting policies and processes for the periodic review of curriculum
  • Collaborating on maintaining a balanced budget for the academic programs
  • Completing any additional tasks and responsibilities assigned

Qualifications

  • Demonstrating proven success as a teacher, leader, and strategist
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience analyzing and using data for instructional purposes
  • Possessing a Master’s Degree or greater in a subject area; degree in field related to teaching and learning preferred
  • Possessing a depth of knowledge in PK-12 curriculum
  • Presenting 5+ years of classroom teaching experience

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time
  • May stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 25lbs
  • Works primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom or office environment
  • Works intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
  • Ability to actively circulate throughout the diverse campus environment
