ROLE SUMMARY:

As part of the Adult Work Experience program at Wellnest, the Classroom Assistant will support Day Treatment Intervention staff in prepping for classroom activities, meals and outreach events. In this position, the Classroom Assistant will also support with office organization, light clerical duties, maintaining cleanliness of common areas, and effectively serve in cordial communication with all staff and community members at all times. The successful candidate will be motivated and eager to learn Wellnest policies and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with prepping arts and crafts activities, and cleaning areas after activities Support in organizing, packing, and sorting classroom materials Assist with preparing and distributing meals Ensures the tidiness and sanitization of all classroom work spaces, areas, and items. Supports in outreach events in the community to promote services for the Early Intervention and DTI program Will have some interaction with clients to assist classroom personnel with escorting clients to and from their classrooms as needed. Greets and engages guests, consumers, and families of Wellnest when necessary Works closely with members of the Wellnest staff, and supports with any ad hoc requests as approved by the Employment Specialists and assigned Wellnest Supervisors Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant will be a DOR consumer of the Life Learning Center. Must be enrolled in employment services at the Life Learning Center.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employee may be asked to pursue additional training when it is determined to be in the best interest of the Company. In keeping with Company policy for all employees, the successful applicant must also complete a test for TB, and fingerprint clearance by the Department of Justice. Proof that you will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and boosted per eligibility guidelines by your employment start date.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Employee regularly works in an office environment.

Ability to talk or hear in order to give and receive information and instructions Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls Ability to reach with hands and arms Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds Able to use telephone, office copier, calculator, fax machine, computer printer and scanner, or other equipment as required.
