Horticulture Technician

Summary of Position: The Garden Supervisor is responsible for the safety of themselves and those around them while upholding work schedules, procedures, and quality standards. Implements proper horticulture landscape maintenance activities on the job site. Garden Supervisors should manage job sites for quality and efficiency. The Garden Supervisor should understand how to motivate, encourage, and teach maintenance crew members and Garden Supervisors in Training.

Goal: The Garden Supervisor’s goal is to safely maintain landscapes while leading a team of crew member(s). They ensure that the sites are in top condition and make recommendations to the Landscape Care Rep of additional work to be proposed.

Duties:

1. Knows and follows all safety policy, personnel policy and procedure policy.
2. Leads in pre-job consultation with crew member(s) to improve quality and efficiency of the job site.
3. Communicates with homeowners as needed and reports communication to the Landscape Care Representative
4. Safely and efficiently operates equipment and other tools.
5. Recommends changes to Operations Managers to improve efficiency.
6. Trains others in proper horticultural techniques.
7. Install plant material and softscape items.
8. Understands irrigation controllers and can perform basic irrigation adjustments.
9. Maintains relationship with the team.
10. Tracks hours of self and crew accurately by clocking in and out.
11. Maintains a clean and professional work site.
12. Ensures proper securement of equipment at all times.
13. Ensures punctuality of start and end times, breaks, and lunch periods.
14. Represent the company with professionalism and with good public relations.
15. Adapt to various working situations.
16. Perform additional required and incidental activities.

Educational Requirements: High School Diploma, College Degree or Certificate in Horticulture, landscaping or related field is preferred but not necessary.

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift/carry materials up to 50lbs on a regular and consistent basis, move about the work site.  Exposed to exterior elements (i.e. pollen, chemicals, cold and heat etc.). Requires extended periods of activity including, walking, standing, kneeling, bending and lifting, up to 100% of a workday.

Working Environment: Employee is frequently exposed to exterior elements (i.e. pollen, chemicals, cold and heat etc.). Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
