Position Profile
Painter I is a highly skilled, non-supervisory position in the Paint Department. In addition to their primary duties as Painter I, individuals in this position will have a demonstrated ability to perform all other functions in the department that are included in the scope of Finish Prep Assistant III. Painter I will be skilled and knowledgeable in all aspects of the application and quality standards of BEGA luminaire finishes. Painter I will regularly engage in formal problem solving as well as develop and maintain standard operating procedures to maintain best practices and train employees. Painter I will have accountability to ensure the on-time delivery of orders that meet BEGAs quality standards. Painter I will be able to establish vendor relationships to ensure an optimal level of technical support for powder coating processes and products used. The duties of Painter I include but are not limited to application of powder coating as well as a strong understanding and ability to control all aspects of the powder coating process. Painter I will work under the direct supervision of the Department Leads and Supervisor and in cooperation with other employees as the leader of a work team as well as individually throughout different production areas of the department.
Knowledge & Experience
All requirements of Finish Prep Assistant III
Communicate at a high level in both in writing and verbally, in English.
Have a well-developed understanding of the entire powder coat process including pretreatment, grounding, plugging, drying, curing, and sources of contamination.
Understand the different types of powder coat finishes; can interpret associated technical data sheets and make the necessary process changes based on the powders requirements.
Familiar with powder coating equipment, setup, operation, and user-driven maintenance.
Perform quality measures, such as coating thickness, adhesion, and cure testing. Plus, the ability to use the information to make beneficial process adjustments.
Able to pass a written and hands-on painters training and show competency with advanced powder coating (NACE).
Capable of working in a team environment where respectful 2-way communication is encouraged to solve problems and improve processes.
What youll do
Powder Coating on raw and previously coated substrates.
Maintaining a proper line speed and oven temperature consistent with requirements of the powder being applied.
Be an active team member by identifying problems impacting powder coat quality or throughput, while working with others to solve associated problems.
Cleaning and maintenance of coating application equipment and work areas.
Ensure powder coatings are handled in a safe and effective manner in accordance with company and outside agency regulations.
Willing to train others on the powder coat application process.

Willingness to take direction from area lead and follow that direction; To be a self-starter when not working under direct supervision.
Be capable of reading and understanding technical documents such as TDS, SDS, and equipment instruction manuals.
Demonstrate that you are efficient with painting techniques, meet company productivity rates, maintain mil thickness, and learn all aspects of job as required. Have the ability and desire to continuously improve.
Adhere to powder inventory guidelines including FIFO.
Adhere to performance specifications for powders coatings and actively participate in all quality assurance protocols.
Adhere to all PPE requirements in the department.
Ability to perform any job function of Finish Prep Assistant III.
Other duties as assigned.

Position Dimensions
Single shift (up to 12 hours)
Ability to work overtime including weekends as required.
Fast-paced, teamwork environment
Physical work environment requiring intermittent lifting and sustained periods of standing.
7,000 parts produced per week.
90% of daily time spent directly in manufacturing areas.
Use of all applicable PPE as required.
Salary Range:
$17.50 - $19.88 Hourly depending on experience/qualifications reflects the negotiable range for hire. The top of the range $22.26, is reserved for salary advancement and growth for this position
