POSITION TITLE: Director of Admissions 

DEPARTMENT: Enrollment Management 

WORK LOCATION: Onsite (Belmont, CA) 

REPORTS TO: Dean, Enrollment Management 

FLSA STATUS: Full-time, Exempt 

SALARY: $90,000 - $110,000/annual 

 

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION    

The Director is a key member of the enrollment management team and the professional team for the Office of Admission and reports directly to the Dean of Enrollment Management. The Director supports the vision, strategy, leadership, and management oversight for NDNU's recruitment and admission of new students at the graduate and undergraduate (degree completion) student levels. They will manage the daily operations in the admission office and support the strategic enrollment management plan outlined by the Dean of Enrollment Management. The Director provides collaborative, mission-centered leadership for the admissions team and, through their work, supports and collaborates with fellow enrollment management professionals dedicated to serving and supporting students from admission to the University through graduation. 

 

The Director is a student-centered, diverse, and equity-grounded professional responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the institution's recruitment initiatives as presented in the strategic enrollment management and institutional strategic plans. As a member of the Dean of Enrollment's functional team, the Director will also work closely with the offices of Financial Aid, the Registrar, Institutional Research, Marketing, and Data and Admissions Operations Specialist. The Director will serve as the chair of the Enrollment Management Strategic Initiatives Committee and on other committees as designated. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:  

  • The Director is responsible for the management, implementation, and adjustment of admission policies for all graduate and undergraduate programs. 

  • Assesses recruitment efforts and analyzes information to ascertain all admissions team members' continuous movement toward meeting admissions goals.  

  • Supervises processing application materials while leveraging customer relationship management (CRM) strategies. 

  • Develop, implement, manage, and assess recruitment plans and efforts to increase student enrollment to achieve the University's headcount and net revenue goals. 

  • Works closely with deans, faculty, marketing, financial aid, and other units to coordinate efforts on their behalf as a part of the recruitment strategies 

  • Build comprehensive program-specific recruitment plans that complement and support University marketing plans. 

  • Work collaboratively with financial aid to develop and implement strategies to support the best use of institutional funds to recruit and retain students. 

  • Contribute to developing processes, policies, and procedures related to recruitment and admission, such as data management, application processing, marketing strategies, and the effective use of our CRM. 

  • Implements operational objectives that align with the organization's goals and objectives. 

  • Select, hire, and manage the admissions staff and develop benchmarks and indicators to assess performance. 

  • Routinely analyze and report ROI for strategies/initiatives and recruitment funnel key performance indicators; measure and monitor conversion rates, application rates, yield, etc. 

  • Serve as a designated school official (DSO) for the University. 

  • Assisted in managing admission recruitment communications using CRM. 

  • In collaboration with the Marketing department, we manage web content related to recruitment and enrollment processes.  

  • Perform other projects as assigned by the Dean of Enrollment Management. 

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. 

  • A minimum of five years of admissions experience showing progressive advancement through the ranks leading recruitment efforts.  

  • Experience in hiring, supervising, management decision-making, and team development is required. 

  • Experience at a not-for-profit college or University is preferred. 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • A track record of growing a diverse student headcount and revenue in a competitive environment is essential. 

  • Strong writing skills and experience creating effective marketing communications are essential. 

  • Demonstrated analytic and reporting ability, creativity, and organizational skills are required. 

  • An ability to use relational databases as well as M.S. Office. 

  • The ability to manage and organize multiple projects simultaneously is necessary. 

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work effectively on diverse, cross-functional committees and project teams needed. 

  • Ability to adapt and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Willingness to go the extra mile to complete projects, meet deadlines, etc. 

  • An appreciation and commitment to the university are required.
