Description

Director of Strategic Communications

The Arc Central Chesapeake Region (The Arc) supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to live, work, and connect with their community.

As the Director of Strategic Communications, you will build and execute communications strategies to drive the strategic direction and engagement of The Arc. The Director of Strategic Communications will execute communications objectives that directly support The Arc’s business strategies, including leading a multichannel communications program from concept to completion. This position will collaborate with and provide hands-on communications support to key leaders across the organization, ensuring The Arc’s voice is maintained. In partnership with the President & CEO, the Director of Strategic Communications will act as The Arc’s official spokesperson.

The ideal candidate for this position will be comfortable developing and executing integrated communications strategies that span internal and external audiences, as well as reaching and influencing target audiences through compelling messaging, creative storytelling, channel strategies, media outreach, and stakeholder engagement. An excellent communicator and natural storyteller with strong business knowledge, the Director of Strategic Communications is someone who can quickly build trust and influence with leaders and collaborators at all levels.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in English, communications, marketing, or a related field, along with five years of communication and organizational writing experience that have provided a deep knowledge of messaging, social media, and marketing strategies. A master’s degree is a plus. The salary is $105,000 annually and comes with a competitive total rewards package.
