The Discovery Camp Assistant Counselor is a seasonal position that reports to the Discovery Camp Head Counselor. This program will run from June 26-August 4, 2023 (no camp on July 3 and 4) and the expected hours of work are 8:30 am-3:30 pm, Monday-Friday. The Assistant Counselor is an integral part of the Summer Camp Staff and plays a vital role in making summer camp a safe, fun and enriching experience for the campers.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Assisting the Head Counselor in leading their workshops and homebase time. Discovery camp offers a wide variety of workshops which may include Archery, Camp Crafts, Tinkering, Tabletop Games, Coding, Web Design, sports.

Actively participate in all camp activities to help build relationships with campers.

Supervise campers at all times (including lunch time), prioritizing their well being and safety.

Follow all safety protocols and procedures established by Summer@Potomac.

Assist in cleaning, maintaining and ensuring proper use of Summer@Potomac facilities and equipment.

Use positive and proactive techniques to resolve any camper behavioral issues. Effectively communicate such issues to the Head Counselor.

Participate in staff orientations, pre-camp staff training, preparations for camp opening and meetings.

Perform other duties as assigned.
