The Role

Gotham Greens is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our Accounting team. As a manager and implementer, this individual will be ready to roll up their sleeves and apply their technical accounting and internal controls knowledge to help us continue to grow a best-in-class Accounting function. This role reports to the VP of Accounting.


Gotham Greens is creating new ways to farm, produce local food, revitalize communities, and innovate for a sustainable future. The Accounting Manager will implement and maintain all facets of accounting for multiple locations of the company. including but not limited to facilitating financial reporting, month end analysis, and assisting with day-to-day accounting responsibilities. Working closely with the VP of Accounting, this position will streamline the accounting process and work to build out technical accounting functions. The successful candidate will be exceptional at handling multiple priorities, communications at all levels, taking initiative and creating successful reporting functions for a multi-faceted accounting system.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and produce quarterly and annual filings

  • Responsible for month-end analysis and the preparation of other key functions

  • Execute technical research on accounting issues and document results in accounting policy memos

  • Partner with the Accounting and Finance teams to build out technical accounting functions, including but not limited to stock-based compensation, equity, and cash flows

  • Ensure company-wide compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures in day-to-day conduct

  • Identify and recommend continuous process improvement initiatives to financial reporting and internal controls, policies and procedures or improving business operations

  • Assist in monthly and quarterly financial statement preparation

  • Maintain historical records by electronically filing documents.

  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; and advising management on needed actions

  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure risk mitigation and fraud prevention internally and externally

  • Lead month-end close process and make sure that all adjustments are GAAP compliant.

  • Other duties as assigned



Who You Are

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Accounting

  • CPA certification required

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience

  • Experience implementing accounting and financial practices, reports, and system audits

  • Advanced knowledge of ERP accounting systems (Sage ERP a plus)

  • Work experience in the financial aspects of manufacturing companies

  • Ability to lead projects; manage multiple audits/tasks and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment

  • Ability to think independently; a professional demeanor, a can-do attitude and other qualities that include decisiveness, excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills

  • Detail-oriented, able to work according to schedules and work plans, ask good questions and request help as needed. Contributes to team effort

  • A self-starter with an ability to excel in a dynamic, ever-changing environment - someone who will take initiative, has the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines

  • Exceptional communication, presentation and influencing skills

  • Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters, utilizing sound judgement in a complex environment

  • Experience working effectively with multiple levels of internal and external stakeholders

  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, and cost control principles

  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
