Flat River Group is seeking an accomplished and results-driven Operations Manager to oversee and optimize various tasks and processes within our distribution center. Reporting to the Distribution Center Manager, this position plays a key role in leading and supervising teams within the distribution center, ensuring seamless warehouse operations. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional multitasking abilities, strong communication skills, servant leadership qualities, and a proactive approach to mastering Flat River Group's processes and procedures. Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Operational Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to teams engaged in order fulfillment, inventory management, receiving, and shipping, ensuring the overall efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse operations.
  • Order Fulfillment: Oversee and optimize the accurate picking, packing, and shipping of customer orders, ensuring products are properly labeled and securely packaged for safe delivery.
  • Inventory Management: Collaborate closely with inventory control teams to optimize stock levels, conduct regular cycle counts, and maintain precise inventory records.
  • Warehouse Safety and Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, quality control guidelines, and company policies to establish a secure and compliant working environment.
  • Process Optimization: Lead cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions that increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Team Development: Mentor, coach, and support team members to enhance their skills and performance, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Leading Shift Startup Meetings: Conduct daily shift startup meetings, ensuring clear communication of priorities, objectives, and safety measures for the day's operations.
  • Managing Daily Activities and Workflow: Coordinate and oversee the daily activities and workflow throughout the Distribution Center, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee regular inspection and reporting of any issues with warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and scanners, ensuring they are well-maintained and safe to operate.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Oversee department supervisors to support interdepartmental initiatives and contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at optimizing warehouse operations.
  • Communication and Reporting: Effectively communicate with internal teams, providing regular updates on warehouse performance and promptly addressing any issues or concerns with the Distribution Center Manager or operations team.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements, integrating new knowledge into daily operations to drive continuous improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Exposure: Possess a comprehensive understanding of the functions of all other departments, collaborating to streamline workflows and promote a cohesive working environment.
  • One Team: Demonstrate servant leadership by fostering a team-oriented mindset, encouraging colleagues to support each other and assist with related duties outside of their primary department when necessary.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance repeatedly.
  • Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds without assistance occasionally.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for 8-10 hours for 5-6 days/week.*
  • Ability to regularly bend, twist, stoop, and reach.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Strong servant leadership and team management skills, driving task completion, and promoting a collaborative work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both within the department and interdepartmentally.
  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Advanced computer operating knowledge, including proficiency with FRG Portal, WMS system, and Microsoft Office.
  • Capability to assign tasks, delegate responsibilities, and follow up with team members.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Successful completion of forklift training and certification after hire into the position.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within a fast-paced, high-volume organization is essential (5+ years).
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree, or some college highly preferred.
  • Previous forklift operator experience is preferred
