REPORTS TO:  ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS FOR SPORTS MEDICINE

STATUS: FULL TIME, 12-MONTH

 

 

The coach is responsible for duties as assigned by the assistant director of athletics for sports medicine and will manage a secondary responsibility as defined.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with coaches to establish programs for all 19 NCAA Sports
  • Supervises lifts, conditioning sessions, and other training events.
  • Coordinates assigned teams’ training schedules.
  • Attends Sports Medicine Team meetings and receives injury reports.
  • Establishes and maintains proper communication with sport coaches, athletic trainers, athletics staff and the strength & conditioning staff.
  • Designs training programs and makes necessary modifications, when needed.
  • Assists with the maintenance and upkeep of training facilities.
  • Supervises weight room and maintains records.
  • Projects and promotes an inclusive education with the highest standards, where student-athletes are empowered to leave lives of personal significance and professional success as global citizens.
  • Acts as an ambassador of the College and conducts oneself in a positive manner to heighten the awareness of the institution to all of its constituents.
  • Operates within the mission of the College and athletics department to ensure a full NCAA DII student-athlete experience.
  • Follows all institutional, GMAC and NCAA regulations.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends and to travel for team practices, competition and scouting.
  • Assists with transportation of team in vans or bus, upon approval.
  • With this full time position also potentially overseeing a graduate assistant
  • Other duties as assigned by the assistant director of athletics for sports medicine.

 

Qualifications

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred.

 

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Holds an NCAA approved strength and conditioning certification.

CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification

All members of the department of athletics staff are responsible for following all institutional and NCAA regulations regarding recruiting and operations of the program and understanding that department of athletics staff members who knowingly violate, conceal, or attempt to cover up violations of NCAA rules shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
