Description

The Credit Lead is responsible for managing the credit and collections activities of the organization. This role involves assessing credit risk, setting credit policies, managing customer accounts, and working to optimize the organization’s credit and collections processes. The Credit Lead will also provide leadership and guidance to the credit team, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Credit Assessment and Risk Management: Evaluate creditworthiness of potential and existing customers. Approve or deny credit applications based on established criteria. Monitor and analyze customer credit risk and exposure.

2. Credit Policy Management: Develop, implement, and maintain credit policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Regularly review and update credit policies to mitigate risk.

3. Customer Account Management: Oversee the management of customer accounts, including credit limits and payment terms. Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to resolve credit-related issues. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all credit transactions.

4. Collections: Lead and coordinate collection efforts to minimize overdue receivables. Develop and implement strategies to improve collections performance. Negotiate payment plans and settlements with delinquent customers.

5. Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on credit and collections activities, highlighting key metrics and trends. Analyze credit data and financial statements to identify potential risks and opportunities. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management.

6. Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the credit team, providing training and development opportunities. Set performance goals and conduct regular performance reviews. Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

2. 5+ years of experience in credit and collections, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.

3. Strong understanding of credit risk assessment and management principles.

4. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and credit management software.

6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

8. High level of integrity and attention to detail.
