Description

General Description:  The primary objective of this position is to work with the Director of Philanthropy to provide logistical management for special events. This individual will manage all of the San Antonio Food Bank’s signature special events and other events as assigned. Annual fundraising targets will be determined by the Director of Philanthropy for this position. This position will also be involved as a team leader for the tours and presentations, food & fund drives, cause related marketing, 3rd party events, and other special promotions as assigned by the Director of Philanthropy or Chief Development Officer.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the planning, logistics, budget, and execution of all signature special events including but not limited to Harvest of Hope Brunch & Silent Auction; Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk; Doing Good on the Green Golf Tournament; Taste of the Dominion; and other events as assigned.
  • Serve as Development staff liaison on Board Special Events Committee and on Event Sub-Committees
  • Responsible as the department lead for the planning, logistics, and execution of both Culinary and Warehouse Graduations.
  • Work with the Director of Philanthropy to research, plan, solicit, and steward all income related to the above special events.
  • Maintain complete engagement within the San Antonio Food Bank Salesforce database, keeping records up-to-date at all times, and utilizing tasks to develop manager portfolio. 
  • Responsible for an ongoing thank you program to acknowledge and recognize donors through thank you letters and other appropriate means, including invoicing donors when requested.
  • Identify potential sources for support for all events as well as brainstorm other special events that could be beneficial.
  • Develop and maintain a “Plan of Action” for all areas of responsibility, including both short and long-range goals and objectives, and then work the plan.
  • Support all Philanthropy events that raise both money and food which includes San Antonio Food Bank signature special events, food & fund drives, third party events, cause-related marketing campaigns, and special promotions that have been approved by the Director of Philanthropy and the Chief Development Officer.
  • Personal face-to-face presentations and/or tours for employee groups, service organizations, religious groups, and others, as directed by Director of Philanthropy and Chief Development Officer (e.g., United Way campaign presentations).
  • Represent the San Antonio Food Bank at a variety of functions within the community.
  • Comply with and abide by all personnel policies and accept additional duties as assigned by the Director of Philanthropy.
  • Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • College degree in relevant field plus two years development experience or relevant work experience.
  • Work experience in fund development, marketing and event planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skills in computer applications i.e. word processing, and spreadsheet/database management.
  • Good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to organize work, time, and self.
  • Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.
  • Ability to supervise others and delegate appropriate tasks.
  • Night and weekend work is required and routine.
  • Personal vehicle is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to sit, talk, hear, keyboard, and utilize fine manipulation and near visual acuity. The employee is occasionally required to walk, utilize gross manipulation, push, pull, reach, and stoop. The employee must occasionally lift, and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 

Work Environment

This job is performed in an indoor office environment and occasionally may require attendance at outdoor events. You may be required to drive to different locations with varying conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
