The Health Information Specialist organizesand maintains Health Center patient records, which includes:
- Distributing documents received from outside facilities for provider review, filing records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), updating specified clinical elements in the chart.
- Followingestablished procedures for reformatting digital files or scanning from paper a variety of patient records, such as signed consent forms, consultation reports,X-ray reports, pathology reports,and previous provider records, and filing them in the EHR
- Fulfillingrecords requests from outside facilities andprocessing in accordance with HIPAA requirements and Health Center policies.
- All duties performed with the objective of ensuring confidential, timely, streamlined, and efficient process.
A high level of computer proficiency is essential. Knowledge/skills relating to medical terminology, problem-solving, multi-tasking.
Must work effectively with physicians, patients, staff, publicand external agencies setting a standard of outstanding customer service.
