General Description: The primary objective of this position is to work with the Director of Philanthropy to secure resources (food, time, money, and voice) through food & fund drives, third party events, and cause-related marketing agreements from community organizations such as corporations, schools, civic groups, professional associations, clubs, and churches. This position also oversees all aspects of city-wide food drives benefiting the Food Bank. Annual fundraising targets will be determined by the Director of Philanthropy for this position. This position will also be involved as a team leader for the numerous special events, tours and presentations, and other special promotions as assigned by the Director of Philanthropy or Chief Development Officer.

Essential Functions:

  • Support all Philanthropy events that raise both money and food which includes San Antonio Food Bank signature special events, food & fund drives, third party events, cause-related marketing campaigns, and special promotions that have been approved by the Director of Philanthropy and the Chief Development Officer.
  • Oversee all aspects of food & fund drives, third party events, and cause-related marketing agreements including but not limited to development, implementation, and logistical coordination of activities as well as recruitment of new supporters of the Food Bank.
  • Coordinate with the Transportation Manager the pickups and deliveries of any and all food drives, third party events, and cause-related marketing activities.
  • Oversee all aspects of city-wide food drives including the NALC’s Stamp Out Hunger drive, Food 4 SA, Feed SA, Canstruction, San Antonio Goes Orange, and other drives as they arise.
  • Develop and maintain a Plan of Action for all areas of responsibility, including both short and long-range goals and objectives and then work the plan.
  • Development and maintain relationships with community groups to procure food and funds including prospect research, cultivation, solicitations, and stewardship.
  • Responsible for an ongoing thank you program to acknowledge and recognize donors through thank you letters and other appropriate means.
  • Develop and manage a tracking system to manage all activities by constituent.
  • Provide written status reports each week to the Director of Philanthropy.
  • Personal face-to-face presentations and/or tours for employee groups, service organizations, religious groups, and others, as directed by Director of Philanthropy and Chief Development Officer (e.g., United Way campaign presentations).
  • Represent the San Antonio Food Bank at a variety of functions within the community.
  • Comply with and abide by all personnel policies and accept additional duties as assigned by the Director of Philanthropy.
  • Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity and teamwork.

  • College degree in relevant field plus two years development experience or relevant work experience.
  • Work experience in fund development and marketing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skills in computer applications i.e. word processing, and spreadsheet/database management.
  • Good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to organize work, time, and self.
  • Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.
  • Ability to supervise others and delegate appropriate tasks.
  • Night and weekend work are required and routine.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
  • Personal vehicle is required.

Work Environment

This job is performed in an indoor office environment and occasionally may require attendance at outdoor events. You may be required to drive to different locations with varying conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
