Full-time Program Coach – 3rd shift Standby/Sleep

Youth Focus has joined with Alexander Youth Network! Interested in getting hands-on experience in the human services field? Alexander Youth Network/Youth Focus is seeking qualified applicants to serve in our Youth Maternity Home (MSSH) in our Greensboro location and provide direct service to youth residing in the home.

SUMMARY

The Youth Focus’ My Sister Susan’s House (MSSH) provides supervised housing for pregnant and parenting youth ages 16-21 for up to 18 months. The Program coach provides support to youth in a residential setting, helping them learn independent living skills. The program coach is responsible for assisting clients with goal setting, providing case management, facilitating groups, supervising outings, providing transportation, ensuring the house is clean and tour ready, administering medications as needed, and providing overall support in a therapeutic environment.

This is a 3rd shift standby/sleep position at The Youth Focus’ My Sister Susan’s House program. This position is on-site, providing standby support during overnight hours. While on standby, Program Coach can sleep. Sleep hours are paid at the federal minimum wage. Program Coach’s agency wage is paid for any awake hours or for other day-time shifts worked. 

Schedule: 3rd Shift – standby/sleep - 36 hour: $14 an hour while you are awake, but you will receive $10 an hour once you go to sleep. Estimate, 85% of time will be sleep/standby but can vary on program need.

 Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (11:00pm until 8:00am the following morning)

Must be able to attend an orientation and complete all onboarding requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collaborates with the Program Manager and Case Manager regarding goals and progress of clients. 
  • Assists clients in progressing through their established treatment plans. 
  • Receives instruction for daily activities from the program manager, coordinates this with residents' schedules and helps implement accordingly. 
  • Models for residents and gives them instruction regarding desirable health, personal habits, and independent living skills. 
  • Oversees the day-to-day activities of the program by enforcing the rules and policies of the maternity home and the agency.  Supervises the residents and their children. 
  • Provides tutorial assistance and emotional support to residents. 
  • Maintains any duties necessary to continue upkeep of the facility. 
  • Participates in team meetings and provides feedback to residents and staff about individual clients' progress and ways to improve programming. 
  • Completes all required record keeping in a timely manner. 
  • Completes all required documentation-case and shift notes. 
  • Participates in all discharge planning, aftercare follow-up, and advocacy. 
  • Provides Transportation for clients. 
  • Will work on-site and be actively involved with program implementation and delivery of services. 
  • Handles all emergency situations according to agency policy and provides timely documentation. 
  • May be assigned other duties as needed. 
  • Respects the cultural diversity of children in the program and strives to create a positive relationship. 
  • Responsible for overseeing the administration of doctor-referred medication to residents.
  • Attendance: Has minimal occurrences of unscheduled absences or lateness

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 21 years of age.

High School Diploma/ Equivalent Required. Experience with population preferred.
