Camp Keff: Sports & Games Specialist

The Peninsula Jewish Community Center’s (PJCC) Camp KEFF has provided outstanding summer, fall, winter, and spring programs for youth from TK- grade 11 for more than five decades. We provide a safe and nurturing environment where youth & teens can play and grow while loving their authentic selves.  Hundreds of campers attend our programs each year to enjoy our week-long sessions filled with Jewish values, inspired to make the world a better place! All our camps are accredited by the American Camp Association.

The Sports & Games Specialist is an integral member of our camp leadership team and works collaboratively to infuse teamwork, group games and healthy sportsmanship into Camp Keff programs. The Sports & Games Specialist will help to create camp community, pride and a sense of achievement, infused with Jewish values, through Sports and Games. The Sports and Games Specialist should have the ability to implement a well-rounded curriculum for the children Grades TK - 5.
 

• One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Passionate about working with youth grades TK - 5.
• Experience leading sports activities and games with youth in grades TK - 5 in a camp, league or educational setting.
• Basic First Aid, Adult and Child CPR with AED certified or ability to obtain upon employment.

• Experience in leading team-building and cooperative games a plus.
• Knowledge of Jewish culture a plus.
• Must be comfortable entering the pool to supervise children
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before start of employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Plan, supervise, and implement sports activities and games for campers Grades TK - 5.
• Organize and maintain all camp sports supplies.
• Ensure that all campers and staff are participating safely in sports and games.
• Attend camping trips, field trips, and other camp events as necessary
• Serve as a resource to Unit Heads and other staff wishing to infuse sports or games into programming.
• Work collaboratively with other staff to plan unit and camp-wide programs and activities.
• Plan and lead staff appreciation activities and trainings.
• Attend field trips, overnights, and other camp events as necessary, if added to program activities.

The employee is regularly required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, run or crawl.

Hours: 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday, June 17 – August 2

Mandatory staff training 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday June 3 -June 14, includes a mandatory overnight.

Additional extended days and/or overnights may be required. Dates and schedules for extended work hours will be provided during staff training. Additional opportunities through August 9 are available.
