The Peninsula Jewish Community Center’s (PJCC) Camp KEFF has provided outstanding summer, fall, winter, and spring programs for youth from TK - grade 11 for more than five decades. We provide a safe and nurturing environment where youth & teens can play and grow while loving their authentic selves.  Hundreds of campers attend our programs each year to enjoy our week-long sessions filled with Jewish values, inspired to make the world a better place! All our camps are accredited by the American Camp Association.

 

The Art specialist will create and facilitate new programs for each one-week session for the duration of the summer. Under the guidance of the camp leadership team, the Art Specialist will implement a well-rounded curriculum, infused with Jewish values, utilizing different art styles and techniques, for children in grades TK – 5.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise and implement art activities for youth Grades TK-5
  • Purchase, organize and maintain all camp art supplies.
  • Infuse Jewish culture into camp programs through art.
  • Serve as a resource to camp program staff wishing to infuse art into their programming.
  • Attend camping trips, field trips, and other camp events as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to plan unit and camp-wide activities and programs.
  • Develop trainings for camp staff members around art programming.
  • Attend field trips and other extended programs as necessary, if added to program activities
  • Other duties as required.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The work environment is characterized as loud. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is regularly required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, run or crawl.

 

 

Hours: 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday, June 17 – August 2

Mandatory staff training 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday June 3 -June 14, includes a mandatory overnight.

Additional extended days and/or overnights may be required. Dates and schedules for extended work hours will be provided during staff training. Additional opportunities through August 9 are available.

 

Mandatory Events:

  • Open House June 12th 6:00-8:00pm
  • Staff Overnight Camping Trip: June 13th
  • Family Pool Party June 25th    6:00-8:00pm 
  • Family Picnic July 26th 6:00-8:00pm


Salary: $905- $1049 per week depending upon experience. Overnight bonus of $75/night for sleepovers and camping trips. Free Summer membership to the PJCC Athletic Center.

Qualifications

  • Great love for art creation and creative self-expression a must
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school graduate or age 18+
  • Passionate about working with youth in grades TK-5
  • Experience working in a camp setting a plus.
  • Experience creating and implementing art programming for youth in a recreational or educational setting.
  • Basic First Aid, Adult and Child CPR with AED certified or ability to obtain upon employment.
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture a plus
  • Must be comfortable entering the pool to supervise children.

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before start of employment
