The Peninsula Jewish Community Center’s (PJCC) Camp KEFF has provided outstanding summer, fall, winter, and spring programs for youth from TK - grade 11 for more than five decades. We provide a safe and nurturing environment where youth & teens can play and grow while loving their authentic selves. Hundreds of campers attend our programs each year to enjoy our week-long sessions filled with Jewish values, inspired to make the world a better place! All our camps are accredited by the American Camp Association.

The Keff Adventures Unit Head is an integral part of the camp leadership team. Multiple programs are coordinated by this person including day trips for campers in grades 6-8. The Keff Adventures Unit Head will lead our middle school programs and ensure the safety of all campers at each destination. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and supporting programs and activities for each day of camp and communicating with outside vendors and parents. This person is responsible for driving campers and staff when programming is offsite.

Hours: 7:30 am 5:15 pm, Monday Friday, June 17 August 2

Salary: $905- $1049 per week depending upon experience. Overnight bonus of $75/night for sleepovers and camping trips. Free Summer membership to the PJCC Athletic Center.

Mandatory staff training 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday June 3 - June 14, includes a mandatory overnight. Additional extended days and/or overnights may be required. Dates and schedules for extended work hours will be provided during staff training. Additional opportunities through August 9 are available.

  • Open House June 12th 6:00-8:00pm
  • Staff Overnight Camping Trip: June 13th
  • Family Pool Party June 25th 6:00-8:00pm
  • Family Picnic July 26th 6:00-8:00pm

Qualifications

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Current and valid driver’s license. Class B license strongly preferred.
  • 2 years experience working with Grades 6 - 8 required.
  • Passionate about working with children, especially pre-teens.
  • Experience with staff supervision, program planning and working with middle schoolers.
  • Basic First Aid, Adult and Child CPR with AED certified or ability to obtain upon employment.
  • Experience working in a camp setting preferred.
  • Must be comfortable entering the pool to supervise children. Lifeguard certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture a plus.
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before start of employment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Facilitate camp programs for youth in grades 6-8.
  • Maintain a physically and emotionally safe camp environment.
  • Resolve any conflicts that arise within the group.
  • Assist with the development of programming.
  • Ability to switch quickly between tasks
  • Other duties as required.
