General Description:

The San Antonio Food Bank is committed to improve the prospects that children and seniors within our community will have access to healthy nutritious meals to help maintain their health and wellness. The Menu Data Coordinator will assist in ensuring individuals have access to nutritious meals in our after-school programs, child & adult care centers and summer meal program. Under the discretion of the Registered Dietician, assists in the clerical aspects of preparation for the meal service through accurate menu and production record processing. Primary responsibilities are to work closely with the Registered Dietician providing high level assistance and support to ensure quality meals and program compliance.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in the development of menus & production records for all meal programs in compliance with local, state, and USDA federal program guidelines, and or special dietary restrictions established by the Registered Dietician.
  • Maintains nutrition software database system, including entering menus, recipes, running nutrition analysis, preparing production records, ensure meals meet component guidelines, and other menu planning duties assigned.
  • Maintains product documentation to include CN Labels, manufacturers product analysis, and substitution logs for products.
  • Collects, maintains, and communicates data relative to program menus and dietary requirements.
  • Coordinates and conducts periodic menu assessments and surveys in collaboration with the Registered Dietitian to ensure the accuracy and quality of program meals and recipes.
  • Maintains appropriate records for clients with dietary needs.
  • Modifies diets following standards established by the registered dietitian.
  • Knowledgeable and remains current on nutrition guidelines and meal patterns as directed by TDA federal regulations and Registered Dietician.
  • Examines and utilizes special diet orders and menus received, to develop production sheets of specific food items to be prepared for the kitchen staff.
  • Processes new diet requests and changes as required.
  • Generates and edits daily delivery tickets.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use the menu data management system.
  • Assists in the collaboration and communication with culinary and procurement departments on established processes, special diets, product, and menu requests as directed.
  • Answers telephone calls and relays information concerning meal changes, complaints, or updates to client diet restrictions.
  • Assist in compile, maintain, file and present reports, records and other documents as required.
  • Assists in routine visits with partners to survey student acceptability of menu items.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information.
  • Performs all other tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or work-related experience.
  • SERV SAFE Food Handlers certification; or SERV SAFE Food Handlers certification must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and agency personnel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good judgement and discretion.
  • Ability to represent the Food Bank in a courteous professional manner.
  • Possession of a current Texas Driver’s License, liability insurance and a clean driving record.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Travel within the city will be required.
  • Flexibility in schedule required to work early morning, weekends, and late evenings.
  • Ability to juggle and adapt to multiple projects with attention to detail and accuracy while adhering to deadlines in a high-energy, demanding environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proficiency in job specific software to include have knowledge of any applications.
  • Coordination and Initiative Work closely with various departments to keep projects and tasks moving forward.

The employee is occasionally required to walk, utilize gross manipulation, push, pull, reach, and stoop. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

This job is performed in an indoor office environment and occasionally may require attendance at outdoor events. You may be required to drive to various locations with varying conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
