Description

Oak Hall School, a private independent day school in Gainesville, Florida, is seeking a Middle School science educator for a range of classes in the middle school science program, inclusive of life science, physical science, earth science, and biomedical science. At the Middle School, we are proud to offer dynamic and interactive learning within a robust college-preparatory curriculum, and strive to intentionally connect our students' interests, strengths, and talents to their academic studies. In this role, we are seeking a science educator who values interactive learning, and embraces the opportunity to guide Middle School students through transformational stages in their academic and social-emotional growth.

Qualifications

Science educators in all manners of discipline who value being part of a welcoming, diverse and supportive learning community are highly encouraged to apply. An educational background and meaningful experience in chemistry, physics, biology, physical science or earth science are all valued pathways for this position, which is slated to begin in August 2024.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related content area, required
  • Master’s Degree, preferred
  • A minimum of two years of science teaching experiencein a similar position
  • The ability to facilitate learning and provide students with the knowledge and tools to solve problems
  • Be comfortable and adept with the effective use of technology in the learning process
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of various learning styles and differentiated instruction
  • Ability to inspire, engage, empower, and educate and evaluate students with vigor, enthusiasm and creativity
  • A history of commitment to professional development and life-long learning
  • The ability to work positively, professionally and in partnership with students, parents and faculty
  • A high degree of professionalism, collegiality, and personal conduct both in and outside of school
  • Ability, willingness, and judgment to communicate thoroughly, accurately, and concisely with all constituents in a school environment, both verbally and in writing
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to the vision and Mission of the School

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Works in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts
  • Regularly uses close and distance vision
  • May stand for extended periods of time
  • Regularly works at a desk and computer
  • Ability to visually and audibly locate students under their supervision
  • Ability to actively circulate throughout the diverse campus environment
  • Works primarily in a traditional climate controlled classroom environment
  • Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 10 lbs.
