POSITION TITLE: Administration Internship
DEPARTMENT: Administration
FLSA STATUS: Full time - Non-Exempt (Temporary)
SALARY RANGE: $18.00/Hourly
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Finance and Administration provide support for airport finance and administration. Responsibilities include a variety of function such as administration of accounts payable and receivable, asset management, and statistical data analysis.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Participates in the proper accounting for budget, billing, and fiscal operations.
- Maintains financial, statistical and inventory records on an automated system or subsystem.
- Create monthly dashboard reports in Excel and assist with providing variance explanations for board review.
- Researches and abstracts technical data as assigned; identifies requirements and determines that professional accounting standards are maintained.
- Prepared statements, reports, and worksheets from a variety of source reports, data and accounting records.
- Interprets Airport finance policies and procedures.
- Assists with the administration of airport contracts.
- Assists with accounting functions related to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Assists with grant management.
- Assists with non-recurring or intermittent special projects.
- Performs clerical assignments.
- Welcomes on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel.
- Retrieves messages from voice mail and forwards to appropriate personnel.
- Composes, and edits correspondence, reports, statistical data, transmittals, memoranda, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness. Some of which may require obtaining, organizing, and planning suitable presentation of content. Edits proofs and rewords work of others as needed.
- Obtains and compiles information needed for administrative use or report preparation where only general directions are received. Inputs data to standard office and department forms; creates forms as needed; compiles data for various reports or documents.
- Performs errands as needed.
- Maintains clean and organized office workspace, conference areas and break areas.
- Available to work normal business hours, Monday through Friday
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- This position will start near the final week of May and may end in August.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Mandatory Requirements:
High School graduation or equivalency. Possess effective communication skills, and strong organizational skills. Must be willing to learn Sage Intacct accounting and other software as necessary. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite software.
Background Check: Employment with the Airport is contingent upon an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration.
Drug and Alcohol Screening: The Grand Junction Regional Airport conducts pre-employment, post offer drug and alcohol screening and random drug screening during employment.

Licenses/Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Finance and Administration. Incumbents are expected to carry assignments through to completion with oversight and review dependent on the assignment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is not a supervisory position. Employee may provide specific instructions or outline general objectives and/or procedures to other department staff.

Requires frequent use of personal computer, including Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and software programs, calculator, telephone, scanner, print/copy machine, and fax machine. This position may require the use of Airport vehicles.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an office environment; the employee rarely works in outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, except during certain maintenance projects and military aircraft flyover when noise levels may be loud.
