DIRECTOR, TRAINING PROGRAMS & PARTNERSHIPS

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

This position's primary responsibility is to create meaningful training and credentialing opportunities for all program participants enrolled in The Academy at Goodwill Industries of Arkansas. This position is responsible for serving as a resource to the High School Director and Operations Manager for the private, licensed trade school, with a service area covering the entire state. The Director is also responsible for providing strategic direction for program staff to determine feasible, in-demand offerings, that lead to sustainable careers for program participants. This position is responsible for the creation of feasibility studies, budget creation and implementation plan. This position will work closely with other Mission Services departments to provide the necessary wrap-around support to program participants and make referrals where appropriate. This position will also remain engaged with employers and other key stakeholders throughout the state to remain on the forefront to be a workforce solution for job seekers and employers in Arkansas by being flexible and efficient in program offerings to meet the community's needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Develops and oversees relationships with businesses and industry partners to increase the number 
of skilled workers in Arkansas. This duty is performed weekly, about 10% of the time.
2. Oversee and assess all current and future skilled training opportunities and courses and curriculum 
needs for Academy courses. This duty is performed weekly, about 10% of the time.
3. This position will oversee program compliance with the Arkansas Department of Higher Education 
and any accreditation needed for all Academy programs statewide. This duty is performed as needed, 
about 10% of the time.
4. Track and monitor all business and industry partners' needs and will position GIA to be the preferred 
training provider. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.
5. Work closely with the GTEC Directors, VP of Education and Training and the SVP, Chief Mission 
Officer to ensure Academy programs have skilled instructors and up to date curriculum. This duty is 
performed weekly, about 10% of the time.
6. Ensure employment pipelines are developed for each Academy course. This duty is performed 
weekly, about 5% of the time.
7. Provide invitations to our partners for tours and graduations of Academy courses. This duty is 
performed as needed, about 5% of the time.
8. Develops and executes strategic direction and vision for The Academy based on economic and 
workforce conditions, current trends, and issues in the field of workforce development and human 
capital management. This duty is performed weekly, about 10% of the time.
9. Supervise the Academy operations and staff at multiple campuses to ensure appropriate staffing 
levels, stewardship of organizational resources, and to support program managers in the daily 
operations and communication of a multi-unit credentialing institution. This duty is performed weekly, 
about 10% of the time.
10. Frequently travels statewide to The Academy locations to manage and ensure professional 
development to managers and staff is being delivered consistently and appropriately. This duty is 
performed weekly, about 10% of the time.
11. Regularly engage with business leaders statewide to identify workforce needs and be an 
ambassador for the programs offered within The Academy and all other Goodwill Mission programs. 
This duty is performed weekly, about 10% of the time.
12. Identify potential funding streams for program participants to access offerings at The Academy. 
These can include federal, state and grant funding opportunities. This duty is performed weekly, about 
5% of the time.
13. Conducts extensive market research, needs assessments and gap analyses to formulate effective 
employer relations outreach efforts. Data obtained from these processes are used to attract 
prospective companies to recruit clients upon successful completion of credentials at The Academy. 
This duty is performed monthly, about 5% of the time.
14. Creates and maintains standard operating procedures and strategies to support the continued 
growth and advancement of The Academy, constantly assessing current program offerings, while 
seeking new, innovative offerings to meet Arkansas workforce needs. This duty is performed weekly, 
about 10% of the time.
15. Develops relationships with community partners that will increase the numbers of clients benefiting 
from our services and increasing the amount of resources for Goodwill clients. This duty is performed 
weekly, about 10% of the time.
16. Monitor and ensure that each Academy location meets established revenue and expense goals to 
ensure sustainability of the model. This duty is performed monthly, about 10% of the time.
17. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you have a 
good relationship with coworkers and management. This duty is performed daily, about 100% of the 
time.
18. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned 
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability 
required.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. 
Equivalent to a four year college degree, plus 5 years related experience and/or training, and 5 years 
related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; ability to effectively 
present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the 
general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, 
percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and 
proportions to practical situations.


CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret 
an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several 
abstract and concrete variables.

Supervises a small group (3-7) of employees, usually of lower classifications. Assigns and checks
