Summer Camp Staff 2023

Job Details

Thank you for your interest in being a part of the Camp Vertical staff! Staff members will have specific leadership responsibilities and will be expected to work approximately 40 hours a week over a 7 to 9-week period. Salary will be determined based on experience and responsibilities.

 

 

IMPORTANT DATES:

June 3-June 10 Staff Training Week

June 12-Aug 11 Camp Vertical at Brookfield Campus (NO camp the week of July 3-7)

MANDATORY Staff Clean-up day August 12

SUMMER CAMP 2022 POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

 

Leadership Positions

 

The Activity Group Coordinator is responsible for assisting Key Leaders in planning for their activity groups each week. They remain present throughout the day to step into groups who may need extra support. The Activity Group Coordinator also serves as the main liaison between activity groups and assists with office-to-group communication or needs.

General Requirements: At least 2-years of experience in camp leadership is preferred.

 

 

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing the details and logistical systems of Camp Vertical. They oversee and organize the coordination of camp supplies, as well as the behind-the-scenes logistics of group games, check-in/out, etc. The Logistics Coordinator is also a leader who supports and helps Camp Vertical by being present throughout the day to fill in for any needs that may come up with staff or campers.

General Requirements: At least 2-years of experience in camp leadership, as well as strong administrative skills preferred.

 

 

The Set-Up Coordinator is responsible for managing the behind-the-scenes side of Camp Vertical including but not limited to making sure spaces are adequately set up, cleaned up, and organized throughout the day. Coordinators will help support Summer Staff members and serve as a liaison between activity groups or help with office-to-group communication or needs.

General Requirements: At least 2-years of camp leadership experience, as well as strong organizational skills preferred.

 

 

The Special Needs Coordinator is responsible for working with campers who have identified special needs, as well as training and equipping camp staff to come alongside and coach those campers who may need extra support. They will also serve as the primary liaison between the camp and the campers family, ensuring healthy communication and collaboration with the goal to provide a strong level of support to both.

Requirements: Experience working with kids with special needs in a church, camp, or school setting. Degree and Certification preferred.

 

 

The Technology and Production Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing technology and production during the day. The Technology and Production specialist will also be responsible for managing sound, lights, slides, and other needs in large group spaces, or helping with any related needs for individual groups throughout the day.

General Requirements: At least 2-years camp leadership experience, as well as experience in tech, sound, or production preferred.

 

 

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the camp volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator is a leader at Camp Vertical, who supports and helps Camp Vertical by being present throughout the day to fill in for any needs that may come up with staff, volunteers or campers.

General Requirements: At least 2-years of camp leadership experience preferred. Passionate about middle and high school student ministry and development.

 

 

The Worship Coordinator is responsible for managing the content and implementation of the daily camp and weekly staff worship sessions at Camp Vertical. In addition, they serve as support by being present throughout the day to fill in for any needs that may come up with staff or campers.

General Requirements: At least 2 years experience in camp leadership, as well as experience in worship and technology needs.

 

 

 

The Camp Medic is responsible for responding to any medical needs that arise from campers, volunteers or staff members. This position also serves as office support when there are no medical situations, including administrative tasks.

General Requirements: Experience in nursing or medicine in a church, camp, pediatric, or school setting preferred. Degree and Certification preferred.

 

 

 

The Office Staff Member is responsible for working with the Camp Director and Office Coordinator throughout the summer as support to Camp Vertical. During the summer, the Office Staff will be present throughout the day to fulfill office and administrative needs, especially concerning communication to and from parents. This position is part-time (20-30 hours).

General Requirements: Strong organizational and administrative skills. Exhibits strong communication skills - verbal and written.

 

 

General Leader Positions

 

The SLT Mentor is responsible for engaging in a one-on-one mentorship relationship with an SLT, helping them grow as a leader and follower of Jesus. The SLT Mentor is also a Key Leader, responsible for overseeing the campers, leaders, and volunteers in their assigned activity group through relationship, as well as ensuring the content for their activity group is relevant and engaging. This role is present with campers all day and will participate in camp activities with campers.

General Requirements: At least 1-year of Key Leading preferred. Must be 18 years or older.

 

 

The Key Leader is responsible for overseeing the campers, leaders, and volunteers in their assigned activity group, as well as ensuring the content for their activity group is relevant and engaging. The Key Leader ministers at Camp Vertical through building relationships with campers and connecting them to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This role is present with campers all day and will participate in camp activities with campers.

General Requirements: At least 1-year camp leadership experience preferred. Must be 18 years or older.

 

 

The Camp Leader is responsible for building relationships with campers and connecting them to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They serve as the main support to the Key Leader for their assigned activity group. This role is present with campers all day and will participate in camp activities with campers.

General Requirements: Must be at least 16 years of age.

 

 

The Student Leader in Training (SLT) role is a volunteer position on the Camp Vertical Summer Staff with the intent of receiving specific leadership development and training in the context of leadership at Camp Vertical. An SLTs role is to minister to campers at Camp Vertical through building relationships and connecting them to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This role is present with campers all day and will participate in camp activities with campers.

General Requirements: Must be at least 15 years old.
