WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE: Skilled Laborers at Allen Construction perform labor activities as required to facilitate general field operations including, but not limited to, jobsite clean-up, material staging, hand excavation, demolition, safety maintenance and trade support.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare surfaces prior to beginning of work
  • Provide assistance to foreman and carpenters
  • Digg and backfill
  • Maintain clean job site by sweeping and removing debris and trash
  • Install protective measures such as plastic on furniture, doors, and windows
  • Move materials and prepare job site
  • Participate in demolitions
  • Use a variety of hand tools to cut and shape materials
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment
  • Assist in-house crews with projects in carpentry, concrete, or other trades
  • Use safety equipment
  • Perform errands
  • Respond to all phone calls and personal requests promptly
  • Attend meetings as requested
  • Assist trades as needed

 

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years general labor experience, preferably in upscale/luxury construction
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors/laborers to their understanding
  • Able to provide legible written and verbal communication
  • Possess a basic understanding of residential construction practices
  • Knowledge of related tools, techniques, equipment, and materials
  • Able to see details at close range (within a few feet)
  • Ability to work independently or with little direction
  • Demonstrate experience and passion for client satisfaction

  • Able to perform physically demanding work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions

 

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat, and near moving mechanical parts. Includes occasional exposure to wet, humid, and/or cold conditions and to vibration. Must be able to stand, sit, squat, turn, bend, walk, operate telephone and computer, see, speak, hear, write, and lift up to 50 pounds.

To perform this job successfully, the candidate will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Some requirements may exclude individuals who pose a direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of themselves, other employees, and/or clients.

 

PRIMARY PLACE OF WORK: Construction sites, corporate office, and other locations as required.


REPORTS TO: Production Manager and on-site supervisor for day-to-day direction

The salary range for this role is currently $21.00 - $31.00 per hour. The Company’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of various factors, including job-related skills, relevant education and experience, abilities of the applicant and equity with other team members. The annual base salary range listed here is subject to change at any time, in the Company’s discretion, and does not alter in any way the at-will nature of the employment relationship. Final candidates will be submitted for a background check and motor vehicle report.
