The GYO Program combines hands-on experience in the classroom with professional development and exam preparation. Our intensive job-placement services help graduates find suitable positions at early childhood providers throughout the city. The Program will also assist graduates in obtaining their New York State Teacher Assistant certification.

The multi-week program is free for qualified participants. Successful graduates of the Program will have the costs of all mandated screenings, workshops, and tests covered, and will receive a stipend at the end of the training period.

• Minimum age: 18 years.

• H.S Diploma or H.S. equivalency required.

• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with city, state, and federal guidelines.

• Candidates with a Bachelor's degree or higher are not eligible for the GYO Program.

• Must be able to attend all mandatory workshops and training courses.

• Able to communicate effectively.

• Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing needs within the GYO Program.

• When working onsite, can consistently supervise children outside while exposed to the sun, rain, and/or weather and temperature changes adhering to the playground rules and gym play zones.

• When working onsite, is able to stand for extended periods.

• When working onsite, can consistently able to lift children up to 50 pounds from floor to waist height.

• Consistently able to deal effectively with working closely with children, parents, co-workers, and administration, either in person or remotely.
